Christmas Dress Down Day

School closes at 2.30pm tomorrow (Wednesday 21st December) for the Christmas holidays.  On the last day of term, we are having a dress-down day.  Children can come to school wearing their casual clothes for just £1 which will go towards school funds.  Why not jazz up your outfit with a wee bit of Christmas sparkle?

School will reopen for everyone on Monday 9th January 2012.  Have a lovely Christmas holiday from all at Tannochside.

Carols by Candlelight

Tannochside Primary was full of Christmas cheer tonight as we opened our doors for “Carols by Candlelight”.  Soloists, groups and the choir entertained their audience with a wide range of songs, from traditional carols and calypso music to popular Christmas songs and hyms.  They were accompanied superbly by Mrs Lyall on the piano and the Viewpark church band.  Mrs McGregor, our Kodaly teacher, generoulsy gave of her time to conduct the choir.

Thank you to all of the parents, relatives and friends of the school who came along on the night to support the children.  If you attended, tell us what you thought of the show by clicking on the title of this post and then scrolling to the bottom to submit a comment.

Christmas Gift Appeal- Thank You

The Pupil Council would like to thank all children, parents and friends who very kindly donated a gift to our Christmas Appeal this year.  Mr Lyle collected all the gifts on Monday afternoon and was delighted with the number of gifts that we had received.

You have helped brighten up someone’s Christmas time this year.  Once again, a big thank you to everyone who donated!

Merry Christmas and happy new year,

Pupil Council Team

Christmas Gift Appeal December 2011

This year the Pupil Council are supporting Viewpark Parish church’s Christmas Gift Appeal.  The gifts donated will be given to less privileged children in our local area and help them to have a happier Christmas.

If you would like to help out here is what you can do:

* Next time you are Christmas shopping buy an extra gift (this does not have to be an expensive gift!).

* Wrap up your gift.

* Put a label on your gift and please say whether it is for a boy or a girl and what age it is suitable for.

* Bring your gift to school and give it to your Pupil Council class representative.

Your gifts will be collected, taken to the church and distributed.

All gifts must be in by FRIDAY 9TH DECEMBER 2011.

Thank you for all your support in helping make it a happier Christmas for everyone! Merry Christmas!

Active Literacy

P3 have been very busy working on Active Literacy activities. We often use white boards, magnetic letters and  spelling fans.

Spelling fans have been a recent addition to our selection of activities and have been very popular with the children. This week we have been using them to work on our common words.

Glasgow in the Past Project.

Dear Parent/Guardian,
During this term, Primary 3 have been working on a topic entitled “Glasgow in the Past”. An aspect of this topic includes the children completing their own project relating to Glasgow.
With your support we would like the children to research this subject and write a report on their findings. Children are permitted to word process their document but we ask that some of their work is also hand written. The children will also have the opportunity to present their completed report to their class and other classes within the school. The task is detailed below.
The earliest submission date will be Monday 12th December, with final submission date Friday 16th December. Thank you for your co-operation and we very much look forward to seeing the finished reports.
Yours sincerely
Mrs Kearney

Class Teachers

Boys and Girls,

The Task.

Your task is to research and write a report on Glasgow in the past. Please try to include;
. 3 historical facts about Glasgow
. 3 tourist attractions in Glasgow
. Information about a famous Glaswegian
. other information relating to Glasgow eg buildings, sport etc

You can research this information from books, internet, leaflets etc…or by visiting Glasgow. There will be a certificate for each report.     Good luck!
