Wartime Poem

In primary 7 we have learning about World War 2 and we wrote some poems inspired by In Flanders Fields.  Here is mine :

In Flanders Fields the poppies grow and mark the graves of the dead below
That gave thier lives long ago.
To save thier children the future of Britain.
In modern day we still remember
Their lives never die in our hearts forever remembered
As the poppies rot and die we think why oh why
Must the soldiers have to die
I hope you do not have to see the death witnessed by John McRae
Who sadly passed away many a year ago
As the poppies blow past his grave we
Remember the soldiers that were brave
The larks still fly up in the sky
That sing the tale of the soldiers who die
The crying and tear does not match the bloodshed and fear
That you may hear in Flanders Fields.

  1. Andrew, what an amazing poem you have written. Fantastic! You have carefully chosen key words and sentences to trigger the emotions that Remembrance Day can bring. I especially like the reference to John McCrae.
