Welcome to the new session in Tannochside Nursery Class.
We hope you all had a great summer. It’s lovely to see all our returning children who are now in their pre-school year, looking so much older and wiser!
A huge welcome to all of our new starts who are currently settling into Nursery. We look forward to working with them and their parents and carers over the next year.
Welcome to Mrs Baillie and Mrs Ogston who have joined us as temporary members of staff and I am sure that you will make them feel very welcome.
Due to the increase in our Nursery provision we have renamed the groups as follows:
Mrs Bell: Cherries
Miss Commins: Pineapples
Mrs Kelso: Strawberries
Mrs Weir: Apples
Mrs McFadden/Mrs McAree: Bananas
Mrs Ogston: Grapes
Mrs Bailey: Blueberries
We have also named the large room i.e the original nursery area The Butterfly Room and the new smaller room will be known as the Caterpillar Room.
New session times
To ensure that we deliver a quality service for all children, we have altered the session times to the following:
Morning session: 8.45am – 11.15am
Afternoon session: 12.45pm – 3.15pm
Collection procedures
The nursery operates very strict collection procedures for all children. Please note the following:
- Children should be dropped off at 8.45am or 12.45pm each day
- The main door will closed about 8.55am and 12.55pm to allow staff to work with the children at welcome time
- If you arrive later than this you will be asked to remain in the foyer until 9.10am/1.10pm approx
- At the end of the session children should be collected at 11.15am and 3.15pm.
- We would kindly ask that all parents/carers remain in the foyer area or outside the building until a member of staff opens the cloakroom door. (11.05 and 3.05)
- Parents/carers can no longer have free access to the cloakroom area, as children will be using this space as part of their play experience.
- Any schoolchildren should remain in the cloakroom while adults are collecting younger children from the playroom.
- To enhance security within the nursery you will be asked to provide a password to staff which anyone collecting your child will require.
- Only people over 16 are permitted to collect a child from Nursery.
- Please be reassured that these procedures are for the safety of your child and we would greatly appreciate your support. If you require an arrangement outwith these times please speak to your child’s key worker and we will try to accommodate your request.
Absence from the nursery
If your child is absent from the nursery please telephone the school office on the first day and leave a message for the nursery staff. If your child has sickness or diarrhoea, please do not send him/her to nursery for 48hrs after the sickness/diarrhoea has stopped. This is in line with NHS Lanarkshire guidelines.
Birthdays
In line with our Health Promoting Nursery policy we would ask that parents do not send in birthday cakes or treats for children. All children will receive a card and celebrate their birthday with their own group.
Nursery Fund
A little reminder that nursery fund money, which is a voluntary contribution (£2) is collected on a weekly basis. This money pays for all snack items, celebrations such as Christmas parties, Christmas and end of year gifts for the children as well as many other treats for the children.
We look forward to another happy, successful and hard working year and as ever if you have any suggestions or comments please speak to any member of staff who will be happy to deal with any query you may have.
