MISSING SOCIAL SUBJECTS TEAMS

Morning all!

As you may have noticed some of the Social Subjects Microsoft Teams we set up have disappeared due to some technical problems. We are working on this, but may have to set up some new (hopefully temporary) Teams in the meantime.

Pupils will be added to the new Teams by their teachers, but I’ll post any new joining codes here too.

Social Subjects Tutorials/Drop In Sessions

Over the course of remote learning, your class teachers may allocate a time when you would normally be in their class to hold an online tutorial or drop in session.  This is not a live lesson, but an opportunity to briefly speak to your teachers re your work and ask any questions you may have. These sessions are unlikely to last for a double period and may only be around 20-30 minutes long.

If you cannot access the session, you can contact your teachers via their Glow email or your class Teams page.

The dates and times will be posted on here.

MICROSOFT TEAMS ISSUES – MONDAY 11TH JANUARY 2021

As you’re probably already aware, there are some issues with Microsoft Teams this morning. Your teachers are all aware and we’re working to resolve it. It appears to be a Scotland-wide issue.

Please be patient, don’t worry and work will be posted for you ASAP.

UPDATE: ISSUES SHOULD BE RESOLVED NOW

Social Subjects Remote Learning – January 2021

Good morning everyone and we hope you had a lovely and safe break.

Due to the current circumstances, the school building remains closed for the next few weeks and all your lessons will be posted online via Microsoft Teams. Please let us know ASAP if you’re having any problems accessing or sending in your work and we’ll try to help if we can.

This is not an easy time for any of us and we will all try and adapt as best we can, but please be assured that your teachers and other school staff are working very hard to ensure that your learning continues as close to normal as possible. Speak to us if you need any support.

Social Subjects will be posting work online for classes as per the current week 1/week 2 timetable e.g. if you have a double period of History on Mondays of week 2, appropropriate work will be posted on that day, however not necessarily at the time the class would normally come.

We will be posting regularly on this blog, posting a range of different coursework including booklets, worksheets, PowerPoints, links to video clips and websites, recorded and live lessons via the relevant Teams pages. If live lessons are planned, we will let you know in advance via this blog and the school website. Try to join in if you can, but we fully appreciate that this may be difficult for a variety of reasons. Teachers will feedback to you as soon as they can, as we would normally.

The weeks ahead will be a challenge, but we can do this!

Please check in online regularly and try your best to complete the work posted, but don’t forget to take care of yourselves and try to get outside when you can, taking regular breaks too.

Make Your Mark Ballot

Make Your Mark is underway with 28,436 votes cast so far! Over one million votes were cast last year and there’s still time to catch up!

This is the biggest annual survey of 11-18 year olds in the UK, empowering young people to highlight the issues that matter most to them by voting online.

The top five issues will be debated at the next UK Youth Parliament, organised by the British Youth Council and supported by the UK Parliament.

The ballot is open until 30 November 2020 so encourage all 11-18 year olds you know to have their say and make their mark at ukparliamentweek.org.

Follow #MakeYourMark on social media and remember to like and share.
