Good morning everyone.

Work on Mary as a model of how to pray will be posted for 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3.

All S6 classes will have work posted on Catholic Social Teaching on refugees.

The article below  gives an idea of the situations refugees can face.

Saint of the Day

Today’s saint is St Ananias of Damascus. He is the person who baptised St Paul.  The great letter writer of the New Testament had a famous conversion to Christianity after having an encounter with Christ on the road to Damascus while travelling to persecute Christians. Today is also the feast of St Paul’s conversion.

Work on  the Life at the Time of Jesus unit will be posted today for 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3

2.1 and 2.2 will have work posted for the second vocations lesson.

3.4, 3.5 and 3.6 will have the second lesson on reconciliation posted.

Today’s Saint: Saint Francis de Sales (Feast 24 January)

St Francis de Sales is a Doctor of the Church. This means his writings on the

faith are considered particularly

important (St Therese is another Doctor of the Church) He helped defend the Catholic faith at the time of the reformation.

Work has been posted for 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 on Conflict and Reconciliation

Work will be posted for S6 this afternoon on the Church’s teaching on ethical business practices.

Work will be posted for 2.5, 2.6 and 2.7 on vocations and how we should use our talents.

Brew Monday

Some say this Monday is one of the toughest of the year with the gloomy weather and the post-Christmas blues (and lockdown certainly doesn’t help)

To overcome this the Samaritans are encouraging us to make it Brew Monday. Why not encourage your child to phone an older relative to have a chat? They can chat about how school is going or anything else. Just encourage them to get the conversation going.

Work has been posted for 4.4, 4.5 and 4.6 RE. This looks at the Annunciation.

1.4, 1.5 and 1.6 should be finishing off their Epiphany Newspaper reports and submitting these on Teams. There is also a revision quiz on Teams for the Epiphany.

Work has been posted for 2.5, 2.6 and 2.7 on the subject of vocations.

Saint of the Day

Today’s Saint is a catch up. His feast is on the 13th of January but we didn’t want to miss out St Mungo, the patron saint of Glasgow.

Saint Mungo

Saint Mungo is the Patron Saint of Glasgow and is also known as Kentigern. He is believed to have been born and brought up in Culross in Fife. Mungo is believed to have begunhis Christian Ministry at aged 25 around the year 540. Mungo established himself  in Glasgow living a simple life beside a tributary known as the Molendinar and Mungo set up his Church which is the site of Glasgow Cathedral. Glasgow Cathedral is also the burial place for Saint Mungo.

Work has been posted on Teams for 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6.

Work has also been posted in the S5 Team.

Today is the feast of Saint Marguerite Bourgeoys.

She was a missionary in Canada in the 19th Century, working to bring the message of the Gospel and its practical help to the indigenous population.

Groups have been set up for all S4 and S6 classes.

For S6, Caritas will be working through the final Gathering Point.

All other S6 classes will be doing work on Catholic Social Teaching.

S4 pupils should have been added to their class groups. If there are any questions, email your teacher from Teams.

Work will be posted today for 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 and all of S6.

Yesterday was the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord.

Christmastime is now finished and we begin Ordinary Time

You will see the priest’s vestments are now green. 

Welcome to the last week of term. Normally at this time we would be in school planning for what will happen next year.

One thing S5 and S6 students might be involved in is Caritas. This is a programme for S5/6 students to serve in their parish or faith community (it is open to people of all religions)

It also involves service in school. Some of our new S6  started their activities last year.

This year may well be different but churches are beginning to reopen. This week they are setting up the churches for social distancing so this may be a chance to help out. Why not phone and ask if you can help?
