Room 13 had a fabulous time building reading dens with their Primary 1 reading buddies on World Book Day! They even managed a double-decker den😁

Poppy Scotland

3rd March 2026

As part of their Second World War topic, Primary 7 invited Bud, the travelling museum from the Poppy Scotland initiative, to visit our senior department. We learned more about the support that Poppy Scotland provides for veterans and their families, and decided a deeper understanding of remembrance and conflict.

Monday 2nd March

Room 13 took part in a live ‘Doodle-a-long’ with the creator of the fabulous ‘Tom Gates’ series, hosted by Scholastic.co.uk in the lead-up to World Book Day on Thursday!

Loose Parts Play

Today due to the weather we were indoors today. We were experimenting with different loose parts to create artefacts linked to our topic. We discussed the Meta-skills we used during the task

Digital Detectives

23rd February 2026

Room 13 were excited to get started on Project Real – a joint project between Glasgow University and NLC’s digital team to help us learn more about spotting fake news and identifying the use of AI. This week, we used the SHARE checklist to tell if news was fake or real, which prompted a huge amount of quality discussion!

Mary’s Meals

19th February 2026

The senior department were pleased to welcome back our beloved Mrs Totten, who led an assembly to help us learn more about the important work of the Mary’s Meals charity.

Raising Robots

10th February 2026

Room 13 worked in groups to create their choice of Lego builds, then coded them to incorporate motion sensors, moving motors and LED light displays. A brilliant way of enhancing teamwork skills, reading comprehension and digital literacy! Our Digital Leaders will start rolling out the Raising Robots Lego Spike kits after the February break with some of the younger classes.
