As part of the NL Encounters Cultural Festival, the children in P7 visited Cleland Library to meet award winning author, Janis Mackay. She talked to them about her life as an author and what inspired her to write in a particular style. Janis then read an extract from her book, The Accidental Time Traveller. The children agreed that it was packed full of descriptions and put it down as, a must read. A highlight of the visit was the opportunity to get creative and pencil the start of their very own novel. Feedback from the children was very positive.
“That was a great morning. I definitely want to read her trilogy.”
“I was surprised that I could write so much, in just nine minutes.”
“Janis was so enthusiatic, the smile never left her face the whole time.”
