We are encouraging our children to use Glow and to get into the habit of adding to their class blogs and our school blog. Any child who reads and comments on this post will receive 5 House Points
Digital Learning Challenge
Hello boys and girls and teachers.
Following our successful participation in Digital Learning Week 2016, I have been talking to P6 today about how we can ensure that everyone’s efforts are continued.
P6 volunteered to monitor how often each class uses the school blog/website. I will visit P6 again in the second week of June and we will look at the blogs from each class….. we will hope to see homework being set, comments from parents/families and photographs of learning etc
The class who we decide are using the blog/website most effectively will be awarded a special prize….this will remain a mystery until the panel’s decision is announced.
Happy blogging and researching ideas on how to make our curriculum even better focussed on Digital Learning.

FABLAB SPRING BREAK 2016
Well done to all children and their families who attended our Easter FABLAB Club at Strathclyde University. The children will now share their skills and expertise of using Tinkercad with their friends as we enter the national ‘BUILD IT SCOTLAND’ competition. Thank you to Mrs Baxter and some of our senior children for organising this club. We hope to continue our partnership with Strathclyde University in future to make this opportunity available to more children.

Easter Break and Holidays
If you are like me you will not be interested in the following message – I hate school holidays(and I’ve never seen Pinocchio).
School will close on Thursday this week at the normal time of 3 o’clock and reopen on Tuesday 29th March at 9am.
School will then close on Friday 1st April at 2.30pm and reopen on Monday 18th April at 9am.
I hope everyone has a very well earned break over the next few weeks and if you are off travelling I wish you a very safe journey and I look forward to hearing all about the adventures our children have.
Thank you for your support throughout the last term.
Palm Sunday Mass
Well done to the boys and girls from Primary 4 and Primary 6 for their participation in this beautiful mass. Primary 6 were very well prepared and delivered the Passion of Our Lord perfectly and I was very proud of the children who had volunteered to do this. I was also very proud of the Primary 4 children who enrolled to prepare for the Sacrament of the Eucharist(First Holy Communion). Thank you to Father Kenny, their teachers and their families for preparing and supporting our children – as always, they were a credit to our school community.
Saint Joseph’s Coffee Morning Update
I am delighted to announce that the total raised at the Coffee Morning was £1015. This is a tremendous reflection of your support. Thank you and well done to everyone involved. I would particularly like to thank and congratulate Mrs Kerr and Mrs Stewart who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. At Thinking Circles the children decided that they wanted to support SCIAF and MacMillan Cancer Support.
Fab Kids have Fab Time at FABLAB
For the past ten weeks a group of P7 children have visited Strathclyde University FABLAB. They have learnt to use Tinkercad 3D design software and created lots of models using 3D printers. The children were wonderful ambassadors for our school and have been invited back for extra sessions. They will share their knowledge and skills with the rest of their year group and their friends in P6 by participating in the Education Scotland event-Build It Scotland.
Saint Joseph’s Coffee Morning
Well done and thank you to everyone who came along on Saturday morning – it was lovely to see so many parents, children and staff. I have never known the Coffee Morning to be so busy for the whole time. Thank you to everyone for all of the donations we received – without your support we would not be able to organise such a worthwhile event. Once we have counted all of the money we will announce the total raised.
