Primary 6 Personal Projects

For the last few weeks Primary 6 have been creating their own personal projects. We have been presenting them to our classmates and now we wanted to tell you a little about what we have been busy with at home.

I chose to do my personal project on manga and anime. I chose this subject because I love to draw in this Japanese style and I also watch alot of animes. as i said manga is a japanese drawing style that took its form shortly after WWII. I find this subject really interesting and learned some new things as I was writing my project.

I chose to do my personal project on the queen I chose the Queen because a few weeks ago it was her 90th birthday .

I chose to do Marvel Comics because I really like reading Marvel comics and I was really interested in how it all began and how the characters were created. My favourite fact was that was that it started in 1939 as Timely Publications and by the1950’s it was known as Atlas Comics and then in1961 it became Marvel Comics.

We both worked together to make our project stand out. We picked it because it was intresting. We had lots of fun making our project and learning about space. We were trying to make a model but someone spilt the paint all over the cream carpet. We used books for information and did two experiments one to show how the galaxies spin, and the other to show the heat travels through planets. We really enjoyed showing of our project and we hope the class enjoyed it too.

Class of 2016…Graduation!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Well done to all of our Graduates this evening…you did us proud!

Stars adorned the Stepps stage this evening.  We had performers pulling at our heart strings, moving us to tears and making us laugh.  Thank you to all the pupils and staff, parents and friends who worked together to make the night such a success.  It was a truly special event, celebrating seven years of hard work, and looking forward to the next chapter of education for each of these young learners.

Continue to make us proud, boys and girls, you have a lot to offer your secondary schools…and remember to come back and visit soon!

Science Centre School Trip

Primary 6 and 6/5 enjoyed their trip to the Science Centre in Glasgow on Monday.  We enjoyed exploring the different science halls which were packed with experiments from magnets, tornadoes and even a human hamster wheel!  We also took part in a science show based on the vital organs, and learned some new interesting facts about our bodies.  We loved the Planetarium and had an adventure through the night sky, locating the north star (the 50th brightest star in the sky) and even went to visit Saturn!

Have a look at some of our photos from our day.

Giant Walking Bus (P.5)

Primary 5 had a great time as part of the Giant Walking Bus today. Their posters were bright and helped raise awareness of road safety, however some of them didn’t survive the weather. The weather didn’t dampen Primary 5’s spirits, as you can see from the photos below. A couple of the girls even made up a song for the event, have a listen in the video.

Giant Walking Bus 2016

Thank you to everyone who donated to the charity Brake, or took part in our Giant Walking Bus today.  We walked around the school grounds, reminding the Stepps residents of just how many precious young lives travel to and from our school building every single day.  While we train all our boys and girls in road safety awareness, there is also a big responsibility on the drivers in the local area to keep us safe.

Messages and slogans ranged from 20s Plenty, to Park Right and Slow Down.

Even the fabulous Scottish summer weather couldn’t dampen our spirits!

A donation of £125 will be sent to Brake this week.  The charity care for the victims of road traffic accidents and their families.  Thank you for your generosity.

Giant Walking Bus P1s

Today the whole school created a Giant Walking Bus. We were trying to get across the message about how important it is to drive slowly in areas that may have children.

20s Plenty

When we got back to class we all got stickers and a certificate for taking part in the Giant Walking Bus. Thank you to everyone who handed in a donation.

Our first sports day (P1s)

On Friday 10th June Primary 1s had their very first sports day at school. All of the boys and girls were prepared with their British flags as this is the country that we have picked as our focus for our Olympic topic. We went down to the pitch led by our flag bearers .

We waited until all of the Primary 1 to 3s were down before the

Sports’ Day 2016

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

We all had a ball taking part in our Olympic themed Sports’ Day today.  It may have been a bit cooler than every other day this week, but we soon warmed up as we raced, jumped, threw and skipped our way through the day.

Thank you to all the staff and parents who planned the event and helped man the stations on the day.  As you can see, it was a great success!
