Scottish Week in P.1

Scottish Week was a very busy week for Primary 1.

We started the week with our Highland Games – we played hammer throw and shotput.

We learned, recited and recorded ‘The Wee Rid Motor’ by Sandy Thomas Ross.

We finished the week with a Scottish Food Tasting session. We tasted porridge, haggis, oatcakes and cheese and Scottish water. We got to taste some food that we had never had before and enjoyed the yummy food that we had tried before.

Have a look at some of our pictures from the week.

Scottish Week in Primary Two

P2H had a fantastic time during Scottish week learning lots of new things about our country. We used iPads to search for information about Scotland and we used our new knowledge to write an information report.

We looked at a map of Scotland and talked about Scotland’s cities. We also created our own thistle in art, tasted some Scottish food, read stories from Scottish authors and listed to Scottish music!

Building Pyramids

P3N are loving learning all about The Ancient Egyptians. Last week, we looked at the evolution of pyramids and began building our own! First we made small cubes out of plasticine and then we began to build them up to make a pyramid. Some of our pyramids were really high! Have a look at some of our pictures below.

Primary 6 Movie Launch

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Primary 6B were delighted to roll out the red carpet for parents and carers last week, as they celebrated the launch of their movie, THE HISTORY OF FISH AND CHIPS.

Not only did the invited guests get the chance to watch the full version of this long-awaited silent movie, but they also had snacks to complete the whole cinematic experience and the opportunity to find out more about the movie-making process.

Thank you to everyone who took part in the workshop activities we set up on the day.

A Dragon Came to Visit!

Primary two were visited by a dragon last night! When we arrived in school this morning we saw glitter on the carpet and a set of footprints! The classroom had been left in a mess too! We noticed that a special dragon post box had been left beside the classroom and we checked to see if there was anything there. We had a letter from a friendly dragon! The dragon told us that he was very sad because his home is disappearing. Fairyland is being destroyed because children are not reading enough fairytales. He asked us if we could help by reading lots of stories and by turning our classrooms into Fairyland.

We noticed that lots of different types of green paper had been left outside of the classroom. After some discussion, we realised that the dragon wanted us to make our own beanstalk. We set to work straight away, using lots of different materials to make leaves for our beanstalk.

Primary two are very excited to help the Friendly Dragon!
