Good Morning…it’s Wednesday already!

My view, on this beautiful Wednesday morning. We’ve all had a great sleep and ready for another full day of adventures!

As well as some groups catching up with hill walks and Safari, we are also adding a Gorge Walk and Skiing to the programme today.

And, of course, we plan to make this a birthday to remember for one lucky boy!!

Kilbowie Updates

Apologies for the erratic posts from Kilbowie this week, but the Wifi is not behaving…unlike our pupils who continue to make us proud.

Everyone is trying their best on a personal level and also working together as a team.

Our happy campers are all settled for the night, so now off to hang some birthday banners and balloons ready for our birthday boy tomorrow.  Shhhhh…don’t tell him!

A-Stars Taster Session

February 28, 2017 by Mrs Shaw | 5 Comments

On Thursday Callum from A-Stars came in to school to give us a taster session of some of the activities that they are going to offer at their club in the Stepps Cultural Centre.

All of the pupils in Primary 5 really enjoyed activities that he did. Most especially enjoyed skateboards but we didn’t stand on them, we had to lie on them and pretend that we were swimming and use our hands to move around the hall.

The A Stars are going to be offering a variety of training in different sports and lots if fun!

Kilbowie Rock Climbing

Group 5 had lots of fun today rock climbing in the bright winter sunshine. Finding our way back down the mountain proved to be an even bigger challenge than climbing up. Some people even lost a welly.

Our top moments

“When I reached the top after losing my welly half way up.” Gemma.

“I was so happy that I managed to make it to the top of every climb without falling. Finding rocks to help me climb was tricky too.” Louise

“Working together to reach the top”  Rebecca

Kilbowie!

My highlight so far has been getting stuck in the mud trying to do a very long jump! My other thing was going to the top of the mountain. I can’t wait to jump in the water! – Christopher

My favourite part so far was when we reached the summit. Then, we sat down at the top and ate the famous flap-jacks and had some black currant juice. After that, we went back down the hill and half way down all the boys but me got stuck in a bog! -Aiden

Today I went hill walking and it was fun- I was actually surprised is good it was. Me and my friend Frankie were always a way in front of the group as the leaders. There was caves to go through and big streams of water! It was so much fun. – Luke

so today I jumped off a huge cliff! On the way over to the Island it was chaos. Our team in charge of the canoe didn’t work too well together. Next time I would choose a crew of girls who work as part of a team. We have learned that we really should try to work together. I would also advise anyone jumping off of a cliff to pack a towel! I’m having a great time and love sleeping with all my friends at night. -Sarah

This morning we met Derek and then went on a safari. He was really funny, he kept making jokes about arm pits! We went out and fed the birds, Derek had a LOT of food. We met a bird called Dopey who had a dislocated leg and then when all the gulls flew away I got poo-ed on! Once we finished feeding the birds, Derek taught us loads about the environment. We set some traps and met a couple of voles. I can’t wait for gorge walking and skiing tomorrow! – Beth

with our instructor, we went out to the hills behind kilbowie. We walked along the beach at the front, climbing on the wall. Then wen wlkd up a steeeeerrp hill and Craig told us about a cave. When we got there we found a sleeping bag, which meant that someone must have been living there. There was lots of food wrappers, too! We walked HIGHER up the hill and saw lots of sheep poo. Ray ha and I ran up to the sheep but they ran away. When we reached the top it was so windy. Across from the mountain we were on we could see for miles and Craig taught us all about our surroundings. We rolly-pollyed down the hill and came back. Today was very very fun and we learned a lot. – Taylor

Thinking Day

February 22, 2017 by Mr McKeever | 0 comments

We were delighted to see so many children turning up in their pack uniforms today to celebrate Thinking Day. We had representatives from Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Scouts, Beavers, Cubs, GB and BB. The children all looked fantastic and they brought an extra splash of colour to our Wednesday.

K’Nex Challenge

February 17, 2017 by Mr McKeever | 0 comments

Our P6 pupils had a great time over the last two Thursdays working with Mr McDove on the K’Nex Challenge. Their problem solving skills were pushed to the limit as they attempted to complete a number of difficult design challenges. We may even have some future Civil Engineers in P6!

Gymnastics Display

For the first show we did a  show to Primary 1 and 2. First Amellia and Lucy did a dance to the song Can’t Stop the Feeling that we use during the whole show. Then for the second show Carmyn and Taylor did a dance to Primary 5. Then Alexander introduced  the display. The first four acts went on and did their routine that they choreographed themselves to the audience; There was lots of oohs and aahs which was great because it showed that they were enjoying the show.  Soon after the four routines were performed Maggie went round the audience to ask them for some feedback and questions. Another four acts performed and again there was more oohs and aahs. Again after that Maggie went round and asked for feedback. Then all of the acts came on and danced to the song. It was an amazing morning. At the end Callum came and said thank you for coming
