Primary 6 have been learning about the Austrian artist and architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser.
We have been studying the different styles he used to draw trees and buildings and were inspired to create our own pieces of work.
Hunderwasser’s art is very unusual. He is an architect and artist. Friedensreich Hunderwasser has built many buildings. Some of them have a strange onion shape on top and he hated straight lines. the windows were funny shapes and he hated dull colours. Hunderwasser liked using bright hot colours but not pastel colours. Lucy
Hunderwasser’s art is very different from a normal piece of art. He is not known for his drawing but for his use of bright and vibrant colours. The colours he uses adds so much to his art and make it interesting to look at. Gregor
Hunderwasser’s buildings were not like any other buildings. He uses no straight lines and his architect was all colourful and bright. Hunterwasser use an onion like shape in his buildings – a sign to show it was him who made it. Also when he designed his buildings he would put in pillars that looked like salt and pepper shakers. They were very detailed and beautiful. Kari

In class last Thursday we planted some sunflower seeds in little pots with some compost and are looking forward to watching them grow and being able to measure them in their different stages before we take them home to grow to even larger heights. Kyle our ipad photographer has been enjoying taking a few pictures of the process. Our pots with seeds are on the window ledge now and all we need to do is water them, look after them and hopefully we will start to see them sprout. We will add in photos as our seeds start to grow.

This term in Primary 5/4 in one of our gym sessions we have been focussing on gymnastics where we have been working in groups and looking at balances. We have been really enjoying trying out some different combinations and Kyle our class photographer on the day captured some super pictures to share our great work. This is only a sample of the great balances we have been learning.

Primary 5/4 were so lucky to have a visit from Warburtons the bread makers on Monday 20th February. Two ladies from their education department came into our class to talk to us about the history of the company, to help us learn about a healthy and balanced meal, how to wash your hands correctly when handling food and the final activity was the creation of a healthy sandwich on their healthy wholemeal bread. They all had to wear hairnets just like the employees in Warburtons do when they work in the factory to keep hair away from food and all jewellery had to be removed too. The children even got the chance to eat their creations and if they ate their full sandwich they were given their own wholemeal loaf to take home. A special certificate was awarded to all the children who took part too. We had an amazing time and wanted to share some of the pictures taken on the day.

This week our Primary 7 pupils got the chance to show they were Successful Learners, Responsible Citizens, Effective Contributors and Confident Individuals. Photographs alone cannot show all the learning that went on this week, but perhaps this gives you a flavour of the Skills for Learning, Skills for Life and Skills for Work that they practised in Kilbowie…

In Kilbowie I did gorge walking and it was freezing. We jumped in and when you got in it is so cold you actually get brain freeze and forget how to swim … so doggy paddle back to land! Bethan
In Kilbowie I did hill walking. It was so much fun but very tiring. When we got to the top we got flapjacks and some juice. Then we got to roll down hills, before I fell in a deep puddle! Rachel

We had another great Literacy focus day as we celebrated World Book Day 2017. The children all looked fantastic in their costumes and onesies. Classes carried out a range of book related activities and the children had the opportunity to share their favourite book with their peers. Well done everyone!

Huge apologies, but we are having more technical problems. Everyone has now completed all activities for the day, but photos from this afternoon are refusing to upload. Keep an eye on the website over the weekend and I’ll try my best to post them then.
I’m off to put on my glad-rags! We have some serious partying ahead this evening!
