Summer Fun Day 2017

Many thanks to everyone who braved the rain, hail, thunder and lightning to visit our Summer Fun Day this afternoon.  The torrential rain did not dampen our spirits!  As you can see the hard work of our PTA paid off.  A fabulous day from start to finish!  Thank you to everyone who made the day possible.

Science Centre Fun!!

Primary 5/4 and Primary 5 had a fun filled day at Glasgow Science Centre yesterday. We had a great time exploring lots of weird and wonderful experiments in the science mall before going on a 3D journey ‘Under the Sea’ to explore life in the Coral Reefs. We even got to see a fidget spinner being made in a 3D printer! Here are some photos of us exploring the science malls.

A-Star Sports

We had the opportunity to participate in a session led by A-Star Sports last week. We played lots of games to get us moving and we all had lots of fun!

Have a look at some of the photos from the morning. Some are quite blurry because we were moving so fast!

Ahoy, me hearties!… Primary 1 Enterprise Event

Everyone in Primary 1 would like to give a huge THANK YOU to all the parents and carers who took time to join with us for our shared learning event today.  Through our Pirate theme we played games, tested our memories, read exciting stories, created works of art…and SO MUCH MORE!   As you can see, Pirates big and small worked hard as a team all morning – learning together.

Science Showcase 2017

What a morning we’ve had in Stepps Primary School.  A huge band of ‘Mad Scientists’ led our invited guests through ten very different experiments and, as a result, blew our minds!  Primary 5/4 and Primary 5D took the opportunity to share their learning, encouraging parents and carers to have a go!  Many thanks to everyone who came along, took part and supported this event.

Science Week in P2!

We had lots of fun carrying out experiments during our science week! One experiment we really enjoyed was our Tasteless Tongues experiment. We had to taste fruit and vegetables with our eyes closed and then holding our nose.

We also really enjoyed our Phantom Pencils experiment. Lots of us were tricked!

We are looking forward to learning even more about our senses during our trip to the Glasgow Science Centre!

Science Week P7

This experiment created an optical illusion, allowing us to see through a hole in our hand!

We also made our very own Bag-Bombs! We used vinegar and bicarbonate of

soda to create a chemical reaction, resulting in the bag exploding!

Then we investigated how to affect the amount of bubbles created. We learned about aims, hypothesis, variables and how best to collect and present results.

We put our scientific knowledge to the test and carried out and recorded another science investigation. This time, to see how we could affect the size of a crater made, with different groups changing different variables. We all had great fun!
