A Note from the Teacher

We can’t believe it is Term 2 already!

Our gym days are Tuesday and Thursday. Please remind your child to bring in their P.E. kits (shorts, t-shirt and indoor shoes) on these days.

Mrs Shaw will continue to teach I.C.T this term.

Topics

Science: Our topic this term is Water. We will investigate how water can change from one form to another. We will also experiment with solid forms of water and investigate how these dissolve.

Technology: Our topic this term is Party Hats.

Literacy

• Weekly spelling words (3 or 4 per week).
• 2 new core reading books every week.
• 1 new home reader book every week.
• Weekly phonics activities (1 new phoneme per week).
• Weekly taught writing.
• Talking and Listening activities.
• A range of after reading tasks and activities related to core reading books.
• Handwriting.

Numeracy

• Continue numbers to 100 and place value.
• Addition and Subtraction to 20.
• Symmetry.
• Information Handling.
• Mental Maths Activities – addition and subtraction of a single digit to/from 10, doubles and near doubles, counting on and back in twos, fives or tens.

Other Information

• Art: Seasonal and Christmas art.
• Music: ABC Creative On-line Music and Christmas related songs and carols.
• Drama: Improvising the end of a story.
• RME: Caring and Sharing in Christianity, Christmas.
• Health: Food Hygiene
• P.E. Gymnastics and Dance.
