Maths Week Scotland is a new initiative to help everyone see maths positively.
Throughout this week we celebrated maths in Stepps Primary School. We experienced the benefits and fun of maths in a range of new and exciting ways.
In small groups, we devised and delivered a lesson to our fellow classmates, teaching a specific strategy of subtraction.
We also worked together during Blether Stations – a problem solving activity in which we were required to discuss and solve real life problems using a wide range of mathematical concepts.
In teams, we completed against one another in a maths quiz.
We also gave up our lunch times to take part in a ‘Maths Wi Nae Borders’ competition – aimed at S4/S5 pupils!
This was very challenging, but we have worked well together as a team to crack it! We even had some help from other classes – thank you!
Individually, we took part in the Ultimate Times Tables Challenge and played Sumdog on our iPads and computers, both in class and at home.
