A Note From The Teacher
We have a busy term ahead of us in the lead up to Christmas. We are fortunate enough to be going on a trip at the beginning of November to see a working dairy farm. The children have enjoyed learning about foods journey from the source to our plates. We now look forward to learning all about William Wallace and Robert the Bruce in a historical topic that I’m sure the children will enjoy.
Term 2 Topics
Social Studies – Wallace & Bruce
Drama – Role play activities
Health – Food & Health (looking at labelling)
RME – Christianity – David & Christmas Symbols
P.E. – Fitness, Football & Dance
Literacy
Reading – Novel Studies – Strategies taught are; using prior knowledge, metalinguistics, visualisation, inferential questioning, finding main ideas & themes and summary writing.
Spelling – new words are issued weekly.
Grammar & Punctuation – alliteration, similes, apostrophes for possession
Taught writing – a range of genre will be taught throughout the term.
Numeracy
Oral/Mental Maths – activities will be done daily as part of our maths programme.
Topics to be covered this term include;
Time Multiplication
Division 2D/3D Shape
Problem Solving – Practical and written problem solving tasks undertaken weekly.
Other Information
Mrs MacNeil will continue to deliver German to P5 pupils on a Thursday.
This term we are very fortunate to be working with Clyde Football Club for coaching sessions on a Friday. This will replace our Wednesday P.E. session for the whole of November.
