World War Two Rations

Primary 7D have been learning all about Rationing as part of their World War Two topic. We discovered that during WW2 due to a shortage of material, clothing was also rationed along with various different items of food. When rationing of clothes started in WW2 people were given only 60 coupons to use each year. In class, P7D investigated how many coupons were needed to buy different items of clothing. We then made our very own clothing wish list and counted up how many coupons we would have to use to buy our dream new outfit. To our shock, some of us found out that we needed much more than 60 coupons to buy just one outfit! This got us thinking about all the different challenges people must have faced during WW2 and how much has changed since.
