Primary 7 took part in our very own Careers’ Fair on 2nd December. Parents, friends and members of the community very kindly gave up their time to share their experiences of a vast selection of careers which will be available to our learners in the very near future! We would like to express a huge thanks to everyone who took part.
Kyle says – I learned that there is more training than I thought for each job. For example, to be a hairstylist, you can’t just pick up a pair of scissors and have a go! There are years of training needed.
Lewis – When you are a child you think you know what you want to be. In reality, there are loads of jobs out there you don’t even know about. I was surprised at the conditions some people have to work in. Some outdoor workers work in a dangerous environment.
I learned that there are many different jobs in one place of work. You can’t just pick a job. You need to develop specific skills for each role. – Brooke
Up until now I thought I just had to pick a job and that’s what I’d be. I didn’t realise how hard you have to work to do some jobs. To be a paramedic you need really good grades in your exams. – Becca
