Primary 5 have settled in well this Term after the Easter break. The children are really enthusiastic about their Science topic Forces, Electricity and Waves. So far the children have enjoyed learning about how electricity is generated, safety with electricity and making an electrical circuit. The children have learned through playing by using the game Operation. The children tried various materials to test what would allow the electricity to pass through. They discovered that wood and plastic (insulators) do not allow the electricity to pass through although metal (conductor) does. The children learned the symbols for electrical components and they worked cooperatively to create a circuit with a light and one with a buzzer.
Primary 5 again worked cooperatively whilst participating in our Outdoor Learning activity. Groups were created randomly where the children had to work cooperatively and use quality communication to complete their task. The children had to design, resource and build an assault course within the senior yard. Using their communication skills they then had to teach another group how to complete their assault course. Happily the children succeeded in their task and they all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Look out for our pictures on Twitter.
