This week in Primary 5 we made Viking helmets. We used paper and paint to create our masterpieces!
During I.C.T we logged onto GLOW to play some Viking games. It was great fun!

Digital learning in primary 1/2.
We have been working hard in our computer room to learn how to word process. Here you can see what skills we have been developing…
We know how to make a capital letter, how to do a full stop, how to change the font, colour and size of our writing. Aren’t we clever!
Also, as part of our IDL topic on materials, we know that everything is made of atoms. We explored the art technique of pointillism and created these crosses for our Way of the Cross wall during lent. Each cross is made of tiny dots, reminding us that everything is made of atoms.

More WW2 models in pr7
Here are a few more models from our fabulous primary seven children.
The standard of the models has been excellent and the children have really enjoyed making them.
The children planned, illustrated models in a diagram, collected resources, constructed the models and many had to make changes to ensure their model was sturdy and well finished.

Novels, iPads and Astronauts in Primary 5/6
We’re busy bees in Primary 5/6 and we have lots of exciting things to share.
We’ve started some new novel studies this week and we can’t wait to share our thoughts with you. The Superstars are reading ‘Horrid Henry’, they are desperate to know what mischief he’ll get up to next and are really pleased because they love to watch ‘Horrid Henry’ on the television.
Our Clever clogs have started reading ‘The Butterfly Lion’ by Michael Morpurgo and have been making fantastic predictions about what they think will happen in the story.
Finally the Whizz kids are reading a brand new book, ‘Tom Gates is Absolutely Fantastic (at some things)’ and they are loving it more with every page they read.
We’re very happy with our new books and wanted to share them with you!
This week we’ve also been looking at astronauts as part of our space topic. Working in pairs, we used our iPads to research some questions we had about how astronauts live in space, we found some really interesting facts about showering, eating, sleeping and even going to the bathroom in space!
We wrote a short monologue from the point of view of an astronaut after their first day in space and some of use managed to record these as a video blog. We tried some astronaut ice cream, most of us thought it was very tasty! Andrew said that it was great because it tasted just like warm ice cream but Carlos wasn’t sure about the texture.

Lent in primary 1/2.
At the start of Lent we all wrote our Lenten promises and displayed them.
We are now well on our way through our Lenten journey and are beginning to think about how we can help others. This is more important than ever in his year of mercy. We are raising money for SCIAF. This week we are hoping to have a bingo afternoon with prizes. Children can buy a card for £2 which will allow them to play several games of bingo. They may win a prize!

Netball Stars!
Well done to our great netball players who took part in the North Lanarkshire final tournament today. We may not have left with a winners trophy but we certainly left with big smiles after playing well, being good sports and above all showing fantastic enthusiasm. Well done team!

Look, listen, learn in primary 1/2!
In the Digital Learning suite this week everyone logged in to Glow. We were able to use two apps that our teacher had put onto our very own Launch Pads. First of all we explored the TigTag jar site. Here we were able to re visit the work we did in class on solids, liquids and atoms. It was very interesting. Then we visited the BBC Languages app and found the primary Spanish resources easily. Then we watched some Spanish videos and played some word games.
We all have our very own Glow login which we will be bringing home very soon so that we can use the apps at home too.
Also, this wee our primary 2 children had their stage assembly. It was wonderful to see everyone taking part in a beautiful, calm assembly where every child had a chance to speak, sing and show off their talents. It’s been a long time since our primary 1 assembly way back in September, but the primary 1 children recalled how they had felt on that day and were there to support their primary 2 classmates all along the way! A real team effort!
Well done everyone.
Our parents and carers were delighted to visit our class, see our work and our wall displays and talk to our teacher. What a great afternoon!

A busy time in P2!
Primary 2 have had a very busy few weeks! We had our class assembly on Friday which was great fun and allowed us to show off lots of our special talents. We hope all of our families enjoyed coming to see us because we really enjoyed performing for you! We have also been visited by Mr Young for the day and we liked having him in the class to see how hard we all work.
We have been learning lots of new things over the past few weeks. In gym we are playing tennis and we are getting better at using a racket to pass the ball to each other.

In R.E. we have been focusing on Lent as our theme and we have learned about the Stations of the Cross. We made some beautiful crosses using tissue paper which are now on display in our classroom.
Finally. we love our weekly Spanish lessons. Last week we learned our Spanish colours and we enjoyed playing the colours snap game with our partners. This week we will be learning how to say the days of the week in Spanish and we can’t wait!

Lots of learning in primary 1.
Our new sound this week is “wh”. If you say it with your hand at your face you’ll feel it blowing on your hand!
We have have been learning how to share in maths. Sharing means it is fair and everyone has the same amount.
Our new topic is all about our bodies. We worked in groups to draw round and label parts of the body.
Finally we each created a house to place in odd or even street. If you live in odd street you have a yellow front door and if you live in even street you have a green front door. Don’t we all look so smart?

What a week!
We’ve been working really hard this week to practise our Victorian assembly, we can’t wait to perform it! We have been gathering bits and pieces to put together our Victorian outfits and they’re looking great!
We began the week with the presentations we didn’t quite manage to see last week. We had a special treat with a taste test of Victorian food! We all got to try the kinds of treats both rich and poor Victorian children would have ate. We all loved the sponge cake and most of us liked the dumpling too!
We are beginning to to prepare for our Sacrament of First Holy Communion. We began to talk about the Eucharist and what our Communion is really about. We made a promise to God, which we will carry out during our preparation for the sacrament.
We have been finding out about a famous Victorian artist called Lowry. We spoke about his life and the kind of artist he was. We recreated one of his most famous paintings, ‘A portrait of Ann’ and we think they look just like the real thing!
