Stepping Stones Awards
In preparation for the transition to high school, primary seven are taking part in a stepping stones award scheme. This involves making a notebook about the induction visit, making a presentation to another class and making passports all about ourselves.
We had to take pictures of each other for the passports. Here are the pictures. Aren’t we looking all mature and ready for high school?

Pr7 work with pr 1/2!
Primary seven had the privilege of working with primary 1/2. They have been telling us all about their brilliant bee and mini beast topic and so we decided to paint fantastic mini beast pictures with them.
Mrs Carlin loved them and has decorated her class entrance with them!

Buzzing about our games in P1/2.
We have had great maths fun this week in our class! Everyone rose to the challenge of designing and making a board game and then brought them in to play with their friends. It was brilliant fun and what a super variety of games. Here are some….
In RE this week, we learned about the feast of the Sacred Heart and changed our altar for the month of June. We now have the statue of the Sacred Heart on it to remind us of Jesus’ never ending love and mercy. We helped prepare the altar by making collage hearts.

Funny Bones!
We have started an exciting new topic in p4 called ‘The Human Body.’ We decided that we wanted to start our learning by investigating the skeleton. First up, we explored some non-fiction texts to help us find out some facts about the skeleton…
Then, we watched a really interesting video that helped us to name some of the bones in the skeleton…
We then had to put a skeleton together and label as many bones as we could. We found out that thigh bone is called the femur and that it’s the longest bone in the human body!
After all that, we took part in a group challenge. We worked in groups against the clock to make a giant skeleton. We had to figure it all out in our teams and then label the bones with as many correct names as we could remember…
Finally, we named our skeletons and gave a short class presentation…
Now we’re off to explore the muscles in the human body!

The Holy Trinity
After our First Holy Communion, which was on Pentecost Sunday, we learned about Trinity Sunday. This is the first Sunday after Pentecost. To help us understand the Holy Trinity, we talked about an egg which is made of three parts – the shell, the yolk and the white. Yet it’s all just one egg. The Holy Trinity is like this because it also has three parts – God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Yet there’s only one God. We know that we talk about the Trinity every time we pray when we make the Sign of the Cross.

Remembering our First Holy Communion
It’s been a couple of weeks now since we made our First Holy Communion and it was a very special day indeed. We were quite simply perfect in every way. Here are some photos to help with the memories…
Congratulations to all the boys and girls who made their First Holy Communion. A special thank you goes to the boys who did not receive the Sacrament but did come to Church to help out with the choir. Well done boys!

Primary1/2 busy bees update!!!
Primary 1/2 have been working with money. While primary 2 have been using coins to put out amounts to £1, primary 1 have been putting out amounts to 20p.
We have also been showing off our writing skills as we find out more about living things.

Another busy week for Primary 5!
This week in Primary 5 we have been using the I-pads to research information on England. The children were interested in the monarchy and researched interesting facts about the queen. They then went onto write an acrostic poem about the queen for our wall display.
We have started the preparation for our class assembly. We have a guest star, Miss Kiernan’s favourite singer!

Busy Bees in Primary 3
What a busy week we have had here in Primary 3! In maths we are learning about money, so we have been using coins to help us count how much money we have.
Over the past few weeks we have been writing instructions. This morning we played snakes and ladders with our groups, then wrote a set of super instructions on how to play the game.
As part of our topic on Living in Coatbridge, we thought carefully about some of the schools, shops and exciting places to visit in Coatbridge. We used iPads to help with a bit of research before recording the information in our jotters.
The pastels were out on Thursday and we created some beautiful mountain landscapes during art time. We focused on blending the colours together to make lighter and darker shades. It was messy work, but our landscape masterpieces were well worth it!
