Remembering our First Holy Communion

It’s been a couple of weeks now since we made our First Holy Communion and it was a very special day indeed. We were quite simply perfect in every way. Here are some photos to help with the memories…

Congratulations to all the boys and girls who made their First Holy Communion. A special thank you goes to the boys who did not receive the Sacrament but did come to Church to help out with the choir. Well done boys!

Another busy week for Primary 5!

This week in Primary 5 we have been using the I-pads to research information on England. The children were interested in the monarchy and researched interesting facts about the queen. They then went onto write an acrostic poem about the queen for our wall display.

We have started the preparation for our class assembly. We have a guest star, Miss Kiernan’s favourite singer!

Guess who???

Busy Bees in Primary 3

What a busy week we have had here in Primary 3! In maths we are learning about money, so we have been using coins to help us count how much money we have.

Over the past few weeks we have been writing instructions. This morning we played snakes and ladders with our groups, then wrote a set of super instructions on how to play the game.

As part of our topic on Living in Coatbridge, we thought carefully about some of the schools, shops and exciting places to visit in Coatbridge. We used iPads to help with a bit of research before recording the information in our jotters.

The pastels were out on Thursday and we created some beautiful mountain landscapes during art time. We focused on blending the colours together to make lighter and darker shades. It was messy work, but our landscape masterpieces were well worth it!

Heart start in primary seven

image image image image image image image image imageFollowing on from our Drugswise topic, the children in primary seven have been learning what to do when someone collapses in front of you… We went through a lot of different senarios like if someone had just fainted or if it really was more serious. We learned how to open the airways, check for breathing and how to help the casualty.  If the casualty is breathing we learned how to put him or her into the recovery position. If the casualty is not breathing we learned about chest compressions with the help of the Little Anne dolls and the advert with Vinnie Jones!

The children loved learning all about this and really understood the value of what they were being taught.  They spoke about how they felt more confident if they had to act in a real emergency.

Angles in primary 7

This week we have been learning all about different angles. We have learned their names, sizes, how to measure them and how to draw them. We even learned how to find missing angles by calculating angles in triangles and full turns. Mrs MacFarlane set us some challenges to solve… The puzzles were tricky but great fun.

Busy Bees in Primary 1/2.

This week we have learning more about living things…..

image

After research, we wrote all about the different parts of a plant in the Digital Learning room.

image

In class, we used the iPads to complete some activities about plants.

image

We learned lots of new information.

image

In music this week, we listened to high and low musical sounds and created our own music.

image

We showed what we know about the different parts of a plant by creating a plant collage in art.

image

You can see the soil, the seed, the roots, the stem, the leaves, the petals and the seeds.

image

We learned that the green leaves are the food factory for the plant.

image

Look at our potatoes, they are beginning to grow.

image

Look at how tall our bean plants are! Wow!

image

We have been using our story of Jack and the Beanstalk as a focus for our writing.

Fee Fi Fo Fum….. Here I come!!! Scary art work.
