Another fun week for P2!

This week we have had a very busy week and we have learned lot of new things. We learned about nouns and we now know that a noun is the name of a person, a place or a thing. In maths we learned about ordinal numbers and we can put things in order using words like first, second and third. We also had a fun music lesson where we got to play lots of different instruments. We have been so busy that we had to finish our week with some relaxation!

Art Attack!

This week we have been busy completing our work for our art displays! Our piece of art was based on African animals. We blended different colours of paint and added a silhouette to create our African theme.

Primary 6/7 Super stars!

Primary 6/7 had another very busy week. The children were learning all about life in Uganda. We were lucky to have a speaker from a charity called ‘Send A Cow’. We learned many interesting facts about life in Uganda.

We are busy working on our art work for our African display. Wait to you see the finished product!

The Primary 7 house and vice house captains were teaching the children how to dance at the school assembly on Friday, accompanied by Mr Young! They also introduced themselves to the whole school very clearly and confidently! Well done to you!

Gotta Catch ‘Em All!

Hello everyone and welcome to our Primary 3 class blog. We’ve had a terrific start to the year and today we were learning to place pictures within co-ordinate grids.

We know that those pesky Pokemon like to hide in amongst the long grass, so we helped Mrs Maclean to find them by identifying the correct co-ordinates. In the end we caught ’em all!

A busy week for P2!

Primary 2 have been working very hard in maths this week and have produced some great work! We have been learning about odd and even numbers and have loved playing the odd and even games on the smartboard once we have finished our jotter tasks.  We also enjoyed making pairs together to decide if a number is odd or even. Well done Primary 2!

And we’re off…!

Well what an amazing start we have had to our year in Primary 6! Here are just some of the things that have been keeping us busy since the beginning of our new, exciting term…

Our new topic is…Spain! We have been learning about Spain’s place in Europe and where it is in relation to the UK. We have been looking at maps of Spain and we can now locate it in Europe, using an Atlas. We now know which countries border Spain and we know that it is divided into parts or regions. We have started to make our own maps of Spain showing these different regions…

In keeping with our Spain topic, we made a Spanish dish today called Pan con Tomate. It simply means ‘bread with tomato’ and it’s usually served in Spain as part of a selection of Spanish tapas…

We tried our tapas and most of us really enjoyed them. Some of us even cleared our plates, although we did stink of garlic for the rest of the day!

We then worked very hard and wrote a recipe for our Pan con Tomate. Stay posted for details of our Star Writers!

As well as all of that, we started off the term by studying a new artist called Modigliani. He was an Italian artist who painted portraits with a very unique style. We used oil and chalk pastels to create self-portraits in the style of Modigliani. Can you tell what one of his trademark features was…?

In case you haven’t spotted it yet, here are our self-portraits on display…

We hope you can see from our work that Modigliani’s style was to paint his subjects with elongated necks! We think we captured his style very well indeed!

What a great start to the term! The boys and girls have been busting with enthusiasm and working very hard indeed. Well done P6!

Great start to Primary 6/7!

This week has been action packed in Primary 6/7. We were using our mapping skills to locate Uganda on the map of Africa.

The Primary 7’s presented their speeches and powerpoint presentations to Primary 6 for the position of House Captain and Vice House Captain. Check Mr Young’s blog for the successful candidates and well done to all the Primary 7’s who put themselves forward!

To end our week the Primary 7’s attended the mass for the year of Mercy at Carfin Grotto today. We were honoured to attend this special mass celebrated by the bishop.

Gruffalo Fun in Primary 2!

This week we have been doing a mini topic on the Gruffalo. We have done lots of writing activities from the story and learned all about the characters, especially the Gruffalo! To finish off our topic we had a fun afternoon using different art materials to create Gruffalo characters. We hope you like our masks, we got to take them home!

Farewell P4…

P4 were in very high spirits today as they finished for the summer holidays at last! They’ve had a really super year and deserve a long break. It’s been an absolute pleasure teaching them and I was overwhelmed with the thoughtful cards and gifts from the children. The children are more than ready for the challenges of P5 and I wish them all the very best.

In the spirit of P4, where we like all things gooey and disgusting, we thought we’d close our blog with photos of our recent germs experiment results. We warn you, it’s not pretty…

So that’s it for P4! Have a lovely summer boys and girls and we’ll see you in the new term!
