Primary 1’s library wall display.

Here is the primary 1 wall display for the library. We read the book “The owl who was afraid of the dark” then we wrote a book review.  It is a great book to read. Our teacher also downloaded a link to our dojo site and we were able to watch and listen to the story at home! Fantastic. Then, afterwards at art time, we worked with a partner to create a collage owl using torn strips of paper. This was a tricky skill but working as a team helped us finish with fabulous results.

Primary 1 discuss their learning.

Each week, we like to talk about what we have learned and what we would like to know. We record this on our 3,2,1, poster on our smart board.

This helps our teacher plan our next set of learning experiences. Our teacher also asks our opinion….what helped us learn, what could she have done differently to help us with tricky work and we are always trying to think of ways to learn and achieve.

This week we also looked at our Learning Journey folders and shared what we had been leaning with our classmates. We also looked back at some work from August and we were surprised by how much we have learned.

Scottish Wars of Independence

Our new topic is now in full flow and this week we were learning about the wax seals used by nobles when sending letters.  We have now began to create our own personal wax seal. We began by looking at examples of wax seals before discussing some of the features these had.  The next stage was to create our own design based on what we had discussed in our lesson. We did this by designing it in our jotters which we then used when creating our clay moulds.

We did this by rolling out a piece of clay and used bottle lids to create the round shape we required. After this we used cocktail sticks to add our design to the clay. Once the clay moulds are dry we will use these to create our own wax seals in class.

In other news the homework projects were due in this week and I am pleased to say they all look fantastic and I cannot wait to hear the pupil’s talks next week. Have a great couple of days off and we will see you back on Thursday.

Primary 6/7 update!

This week we’ve had another very busy week in Primary 6/7!

The librarian Mrs Wright from St Ambrose came to visit us to give us an insight into reading for enjoyment.

During art we created an image of a soldier during WWII using a variety of media.

Today we had a visit from the Zoo lab and learned all about different animals. We even got to hold them!

Firstly the fish were kept in their bag and placed into the tank to allow them to climatise to their new environment.

Primary 1 visit Summerlee

Last week we had a great time at Summerlee museum. We went there to find out about what life was like in the past. We explored lots of different toys and household items and looked at where people did their shopping before Tesco or Asda!

Here are the highlights….

In the afternoon, we did an art wokshop all about colour and shape. This took us on a tour of the museum which was great. After looking at paintings with cold and warm colours, we created our own art work which we got to take home. image image image image image image

Take a look at our week :)

Primary 2/3 have had a very exciting start to the week as they began preparing their fish tank for their new class pet.

The boys and girls worked together to wash the pebbles and helped Miss Allington create a clean, safe environment for their fish who will be arriving on Monday.

Also this week we joined Primary 3 in the hall for a taster session of Boxing.

Everyone worked hard with the punching routine created by the instructor and there was even time for some questions at the end.

Finally Primary 2/3 completed their homework challenge for this month and created some fantastic book covers for their favourite books!
