Sea Monkey Diaries

ENTRY 3

Our Sea Monkeys have now all hatched and are beginning to grow. Today they received their first feed to help them grow bigger and stronger. We must feed them every 2-3 days to keep them healthy and everyone is helping out with the responsibilities. What a grown up bunch we are becoming!

‘Our School Episode 9’

Today, we visited the ‘Get Together Room’. This might well be one of our favourite rooms yet!

In the ‘Get Together Room’, you can see places in which you can be comfy and talk with your friends. The couches are so comfy that we think you could almost fall asleep when you are sitting on them! In this room, there is an oven and cooking equipment so you can even make food in here. In this room, we have made empire biscuits. We also found a secret door…

It’s great to be back :D!!

P2/3 have had a fantastic start back to school this year.

We have been very busy in class deciding on our new year resolutions and discussing them with each other.

We also took a trip to the ICT suite and logged onto our own personal GLOW accounts and were able to take part in a class discussion where we could like and reply to each other’s comments.

Finally we had a great time taking part in the Samba workshop.

Primary 6/7 Superstars

It’s been a great week for Primary 6/7!

The children are enjoying our new topic World War II. We began using our Prior Knowledge to decide what we already know and what we want to learn about the war.

‘Our School – Episode 8’

This week we took a trip to our school’s Performing Arts Studio. This room is named after Mark Millar, a former St Bartolomew’s pupil. We found lots of interesting things inside!

In this room, you can see lots of musical instruments. We saw some guitars, some drums and lots of keyboards. We loved playing the drums! There is a lot of room inside the Performing Arts Studio, which helps when you are playing the instruments. Some people get to use this room for Kodaly lessons and we always have a lot of fun during these classes.

This is another fantastic area in St Bartholomew’s Primary School!

Sea Monkey Diaries

ENTRY 2

We were delighted this morning to see that our tank water was really clear with many tiny oxygen bubbles. After 24 hours it was finally time to add our Sea Monkey Eggs!

We took turns to add the eggs from the packet into the tank. We then had to stir the water very gently to spread the eggs around.

Now we will have to wait patiently for the eggs to begin hatching. We can’t wait!

Jumping for joy!

Primary 2/3 were learning about the correct technique to make use of when jumping for length this week. We learned about how our arms can help us to jump and we also leaned how to combine different styles of jumping as part of one athletic movement. What a great start to the new term!

Sea Monkey Diaries

ENTRY 1

There was a lot of excitement in Primary 3 when we returned to school yesterday, as Santa had left us an extra special Christmas present in our class…  Our very own Sea Monkeys!

We carried out some research on the Smartboard to help us set up our Sea Monkey tank. First we cleaned the tank and added some fresh water.

image

Next we added the special water purifier to make sure the tank is completely free of germs.

Finally we stirred the water to make sure that the purifier was well mixed with the water.

We have to wait 24 hours before adding our Sea Monkey eggs to the tank. Join us tomorrow for this exciting event!

‘Our School Episode 7 – Behind The Stage!’

Today we explored the area behind the stage. This area is very important to teachers and you will find out why it is so important if you read the next part of our report. However, children do not get to go here very often. We thought that we would explore the area behind the stage and report back to you.

If you go to the area behind the stage, you can see boxes full of interesting resources. These resources are organised according to the topic that they belong to. We also found resources that people can use to develop their maths skills. We found a bottle that could be used for measuring. You can also find a lot of reading books that can be used in school. The levels for these books were named after colours. We also found a secret hidden corridor! We liked this area because there were lots of fun and interesting items.

See you next time!

A Christmas Cracker

Last week we had so many fun activities planned for the lead up to Christmas. We especially loved our P4 and 5 Christmas party on Wednesday as there was lots of party games, dancing and food! image image image image image image image image image

In preparation for the party we learned a bit of traditional Scottish dancing like the Gay Gordon’s. At first it was a bit tricky but with lots of practise we got so much better at it!

image image image image

As well as the Christmas party, we also had our Christmas dinner this week. We thought it was like our very own St Barts restaurant with the teachers serving us food!

image image image

To top off our festivities we made Christmas cards inspired by pointillism. We enjoyed making our Christmas tree cards using finger painting!

On on behalf of primary 4 we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. See you all in 2017.
