Roman around in January!

We have been learning all about The Romans since we have returned to school. We have really enjoyed finding out about mosaics, we have been finding them all around us and then learning how to make them. We discovered all about the Roman invasion, armies and battles. We learned what it was like to be on a Roman Galley ship. We were completely fascinated learning about Julius Caesar. We have been using our new knowledge to write stories and recounts. Phew it has been a busy month and we still have a lot left to discover!

A Busy Week in P4

This week we have been practising hard for our assembly with our songs and lines. We were practising so hard and loud that we received invitations to perform our songs in p3. On Friday we had a special delivery of letters asking us if we would kindly perform our songs. We opened the letters with excitement and read them in pairs. We will be more than happy to p3!

As well as receiving our lovely letters, we have also been working hard maths and doing difficult chimney sums. We worked in pairs to see who can solve the sums correctly but also the fastest! There was a huge prize and luckily two pairs finished at the same time so we could share the prize! You can see we why we wanted the prize.

It was tough but our winners were delighted to get them all correct! Keep up the great work!

Gymnastics Festival

What a fantastic day we have had at the gymnastics festival!

img_1757

We began our day by taking part in the warm up routine to get ourselves warm and stretch out our muscles.

Our first piece of apparatus was the vault where we showed off our fantastic skills of squat onto the bench, high toe walking to the end and finishing with a straight jump to land.

We then moved onto our second piece of apparatus which was the floor. We performed great routines with a variety of different gymnastics skills which required strength, flexibility and balance.

All of the gymnasts performances were fantastic and they each received a participation certificate for their great work this morning.

Here are our pencil sketches of some of the characters we have been studying. Can you figure out who they are..?

Catching up with Primary 2/3!

Last week primary 2/3 were working hard in class: individually, with a partner and in groups to solve different multiplication questions and activities.

We also began researching some information about our new topic for this term ‘The Ancient Egyptians’. With a partner we were able to access a specific website and chose a specific topic area to record 3 facts about.

Also on Friday morning we came into class to a wonderful surprise…

A little fairy has popped into the class and left a beautiful bright and sparkly door in our classroom. Primary 2/3 were working very hard on Friday and managed to work so quietly that during lunch the fairy popped out of her door to have a look around, leaving a glittery trail for everyone to see.

We were so excited about what could be behind the fairy door we just had to write a story about it!

A Catch Up with Primary 4.

We have had a busy start to this term which has seen us do a range of activities. Last week we enjoyed in playing and taking part in the Samba music class. It was so much fun playing with the drums and the cow bells. We had ear protectors just in case, but by the end we didn’t need them!

This term we have started our new topic ‘The Victorians’ which has been fascinating so far. It has given us lots of opportunities to work in groups and become historians! In class we have been researching lots about Queen Victoria and what happened during her reign. We created a timeline of Victoria’s life and the special events that happened.

We have been working on our talking and listening skills by doing group presentations. We first came up with important presentation skills and what we need to look out for in group presentations. Once a group had presented we peer-assessed and provided back feedback. We will continue to work these skills.
