Welcome to Primary 3!

We have had a busy start to Primary 3! So far we have got stuck into our numeracy and literacy work and have started to explore our topic. Our topic this term is ‘Scottish Wildlife’ and we have enjoyed researching information to share with our peers. We found so many interesting videos, pictures and facts so far. During our Art lesson today we created animals from different habitats around the world. We are looking forward to finding out more fun facts about these animals and comparing their habitats.

Last week we were learning all about Vincent Van Gogh and looked closely at his Starry Night painting. We talked about the techniques he used to paint and we even created our own Starry Night! We are so pleased with our paintings and cannot wait to display these for the whole school to see!

Primary 4’s Weekly Blog

P4 have had another busy week!

In maths we have been comparing numbers using > < and =. We enjoyed playing a crocodile comparing game on the smartboard where we could all help one another.

We are also learning about 2D shapes and during ICT time we were applying different skills of inserting, creating and formatting different shapes on PowerPoint to make our own 2D shape monsters- it was very fun!

We completed our all about me silhouettes and they are now on display outside out class. We think they look fabulous!

Finally we enjoyed spending time in the library for accelerated reading.

Welcome to primary seven!

Welcome to our first blog as primary sevens! We have loved being back at school and we know the work is getting trickier but we are growing in maturity each day and everyone comments on how fabulous we are!

Our first big challenge this year was the house captain elections. The standard of manifestos was excellent and Mrs MacFarlane said they were the best she had ever heard. Primary sixes voted along with us and our new house captains are delighted with their new roles!

One  of the many brilliant things about primary seven is that we have our own common room!

Each week we look forward to our time in our common room, socialising, playing games and trying out arts and crafts.

Our RE and art have a lovely link this term and we have been making our own prayer rocks. This was so enjoyable that we decided to make nature rocks too that we will hide in nature for others to find. How exciting!

We have had great fun during our STEM lessons this term. We loved when a pr6 boy came in with his Lego robot and amazed us all when he used coding to make the robot move with an iPad!

Watch this space for more excitement from pr 7!

Welcome to Primary 6a Class Blog!

Primary 6a have had a busy start to the term. We have enjoyed reading all our new novels and have been working hard on our tasks on them. We really enjoyed our taught writing lesson this week which focused on narrative writing. Our stories were very imaginative and we were really proud of them.

Also, we have been very lucky to have Verny in our class for the past few weeks, a handmade robot, made out of Lego. We have enjoyed learning about how he is built and programmed and he has been a great asset to our class!

A busy start to Primary 5!

Primary 5 have had a busy few weeks since the summer holidays! We have been getting used to our new timetable and have lots of new and exciting things happening in our class this year. On Thursday we had our first Kodaly session where we learned some songs and rhymes that we loved singing together as a class, it was great fun. In P.E. we have started a block of tennis and we will be learning lots of new skills over the next few weeks so look out for some of our pictures! In taught writing we are working on narrative stories and this week we wrote about a time when we had been naughty, I bet our parents would love to read them!

Primary 1 update.

Another successful and busy week in our class. We had Paired reading with our Buddies 5is week where we were able to practice reading our class reading book and also we were able to share a story for enjoyment with our friends and Buddies.

Our artistic skills have also been developed this week when we created our own painted paper to use in a new project next week….watch this space for updates!

Also this week, our parents and carers came to read to us on Friday morning at Stan and Read. This is a great chance to get together and enjoy some stories from the class library.

In our maths we have been learning about and creating patterns. Everyone created a repeated pattern on their paper T-shirt, then everyone created a repeated pattern using colourful shapes.

This wall display, shows what we have been learning in RE. Look at all of the special little faces in our class…everyone is special, God knows everyone, and we treat each other with care.

Welcome to our class blog!

This week in Primary 1, we started Stay and Read. After the bell rings at 9.00, parents and carers are invited to Stay and Read with the children. Not only is this a great way to enjoy stories, it is also an ideal opportunity to get to know one another.

A positive way to start the day reading with mum and dad.

Sharing a book with mum in the school library.

Stay and Read is a brilliant way to get to know our new parents and carers.

Stay and Read with our friends and family

Look our each week, for our news on the class blog.

Fun at Drumpelier Park!

We had a brilliant time at Drumpelier Park yesterday. We learned about swans and ducks, we saw cool plants and trees and even heard about a spider that can make a web… UNDERWATER!

What a fun day!

A Day Out With Dinosaurs!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

We had a great class trip last week. We went to see Trix the T-Rex at the Kelvin Hall. It was BRILLIANT!

First, we decided who our partners would be for the day. After that, we buckled up our seatbelts when we were on the bus. This kept us safe when we were travelling along the motorway.

When we arrived, we had to wait for a little while for the exhibit to open. We didn’t mind though, we had our cool DINO-PACKS to complete.

After that, it was time to meet Trix. She was ENORMOUS! She had cool teeth, scary claws and a very long tail. We loved sketching her!

There were so many fun things to do when we were inside. We could try to excavate dinosaur eggs, we could take part in a Dino-quiz and we could even race a T-Rex! What a great day!
