Primary 4

Primary 4 enjoyed being the Cool Class Cup winners this week. We had lots of fun playing the Cool Class Games.

In writing we wrote newspaper articles about our sponsored walk and acted as Journalists to find out the information we needed. We interviewed different people and researched information about the park before we wrote our articles.

This morning we took part in our school sponsored walk around Drumpellier Loch, it was a lovely day and we had fun but our legs were sore at the end!

We are looking forward to our October Break as we have worked so hard and had such a busy term!

This week in primary six we have been taking part in different activities as part of maths week. We have been busy working through Sumdog challenges and were joined by the Problem Solving Company where we enjoyed solving lots of different problems and were resilient in working out clues in order to unlock our boxes.
We had a great time working with primary seven!

Primary 6a update

We have had a busy couple of weeks in Primary 6a. As part of Maths week, we enjoyed using our problem solving skills to open the escape boxes as part of our session with The Problem Solving Company. We persevered and managed to solve many of the tricky problems. Here we are trying to open some of the padlocks…

We have also been working hard learning new multiplication skills to help us do calculations mentally. We have enjoyed learning about angles in Maths too!

We have worked very hard in writing over the past couple of weeks. We have been focusing on the persuasive genre and are very proud of our writing pieces…

Maths Week in pr7

What a great week we have had in maths week! Who knew learning could be such fun! We started the week with a murder mystery.

Working together, we used our problem solving skills to solve the terrible crime!

Next we worked along side the problem solving company to open the escape boxes. It was really challenging but we never gave up and we managed to open up many padlocks using our maths skills and team work.

We have also had great fun solving symmetry problems, percentage challenges and finally we took part in sumdog challenges and spent time at home playing sumdog.

What a fantastic week!

Primary 4

Primary 4 have been very busy over the last few weeks.

We enjoyed building bridges in STEM and testing to see how strong they were.

We have been applying our skills in PE to play different ball games like netball.

In maths we continued to learn about shapes and identified the names of 3D shapes and looked at their properties.

As part of maths week this week, we enjoyed playing sumdog, applying our knowledge and skills and doing challenges. Yesterday we worked in teams to complete different problem solving challenges to unlock the problem solving box. It was tricky but we enjoyed the challenge!

Primary 1 update.

It has been another busy week in Primary 1! Look at how much fun we had learning new skills with the Problem Solving Company at maths week. Here we are working as a team to solve different problems.

We covered the big triangle with little triangles

We are trying to make a square with these shapes.

We did it, we made a square with the shapes.

We also, managed to make a square with the shapes.

Can we fit the hexagons around the centre one so that the colours match?

Everyone worked together to solve the problem.

Team work helped solve this problem.

Using trapeziums and triangles to cover the shape.

Also this week, our buddies came down to read with us on Thursday afternoon. It was really nice to have them back from Kilbowie.

Reading for enjoyment with our budddies.

Sharing one of our favourite books with our buddies.

When we are learning to write a story, we need to learn to say what we want to write. Here we are making up stories using the story stones. We have some interesting sentence openers and some good joining words too.

Using our openers and connectives to make up stories .

After reading our autumn stories this week, we wrote our own poems.

Another autumn poem.

Look at us! Aren’t we very clever to have painted these wonderful pictures of ourselves!

Look at these amazing P1 paintings. Aren’t we amazing!

A wonderful painting of a happy P1.

Look at the detail in his painting.

A beautiful jumper pattern on this painting.

How cheery is this P1!

A busy week in P.1/2.

It has been another busy week in P.1/2. We worked with our buddies and set targets for the term.

Our maths lessons have been jam packed with counting, chilli challenges and more! He we are using the more than, less than and equals symbols with confidence. The more than and less than symbols reminded us of a crocodile’s mouth and we learned that the crocodile always eats the biggest number! Interesting stuff!

As part of our Houses and Homes topic, we drew houses using pastels and created a night time street. They are displayed outside our classroom and we think they look amazing. We also drew houses during our time in the computer room. This helped us develop our mouse control too.

You can see our taught writing has a Houses and Homes theme too! We are trying really hard to use interesting words and amazing openers. We are really proud of our hard work and Miss Duffy is too!
