Monday 30th March

Good morning boys and girls.

Here is your plan for the day.

As usual I will post these items onto dojo as well as glow so that everyone can see them- Here’s to another great day of learning!

Lets start with a bit of movement- Go into you tube and try Joe Wicks work out for the day!  Remember it is on live at 9 am but you can go on at anytime and give this a go.

Punctuation focus- Fix the punctuation errors in the paragraph. I wonder who the story is about today?

Reading- now it’s time for reading and some questions.

Huffle puff- You are reading about the bfg and there are questions to follow. These have points so you know what size of answer to give.

Ravenclaw and Gryffindor- you are reading about storm breaker and there are questions to follow. These have points so you know what size of answers to leave.

This will be posted on glow and dojo.

After a break it’s time for mental maths. These papers are in your home learning pack but I will show you on dojo which ones to do.

Then it will be time for a percentage activity. This will be on dojo and glow. Today we are matching percentages to fractions.

After lunch I have posted a video into glow about the stations of the cross. This is on the topic page. I would like you watch the video and write down all the stations of the cross.

Then it is sumdog time. Try out all the different games and challenges.

Have a great day ☀️

P6a Monday 30.03.20 Daily Plan

Good morning everyone! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Here is your plan for today. You have most of the day to complete your design, gather materials and create your model of a Wallace sword. I can’t wait to see these! Some of you sent me your plan on Friday and I loved reading about your creative ideas, please do the same today, message me on Glow or on Class Dojo and I will be there to help you if you need it.

CHALLENGE DAY

  1. Go back to your challenge from Friday. Look at your design you created and check you have included everything from the Design Brief. You can find this in the Topic area on Glow.  Make sure you are happy with your design.
  2. Gather materials – Make sure you use materials you have at home. Try to gather all of your materials that you will need so that you are ready to make your model. Check your design and tick the materials off that you have gathered. If you are struggling to come up with a material for any part of your design let me know and I will try and think of another idea. You might want to use paint or pens if you have them because they will work best on your model.
  3. Build – The fun part! Put it all together. Make sure if you are using paint for different parts that you let the paint dry before putting together. Take care to not make too much mess and make sure you tidy and clean up after yourself. There is an example in the Design Brief on Glow remember if you are stuck. I am here too! If you are struggling with how to put it together or what materials to use, just send me a message. I can’t wait to see the finished product!

Focus on your challenge today. If you need a break from it, want to take some time out or manage to finish it, I have added a Task Mat below! Click the link and there are ideas of other tasks for you to do. Keep up the great work!

Monday Task Mat 30.03.20

Anything you need just let me know, have a great day everyone!

P5 Friday 27 March Daily Plan

Good morning everyone, we have made it to Friday! Today I thought we would focus on health and wellbeing and revisit the ‘be kind’ message which is still so important. Here are your tasks:

  1. 9.00 – P.E. with Joe Wicks

2. The Mindful Jar

This activity can teach you how strong emotions can take hold, and how to find peace when these strong emotions feel overwhelming.

  • First, get a clear jar or bottle and fill it almost all the way with water. Next, add a big spoonful of glitter glue or glue and dry glitter to the jar. Put the lid back on the jar and shake it to make the glitter swirl.
  • Shake the jar and watch what happens. This is like what is happening inside your head when you have lots of thoughts and feel stressed or upset. The glitter is swirling around and making it difficult to see clearly.
  • Now put the jar down and watch what happens, the glitter starts to settle. This is what happens when you calm down, your mind clear and you are able to think more clearly. It is important to be able to do this when we are stressed.
  • If you are unable to make your own mindful jar, a snow globe gives the same idea. Alternatively you could draw one that has been shaken and one that is calm to show the difference between the two.

 3. Kindness Poems

Make a mindmap and put the word kindness in the middle.

Write down all of the things you associate with kindness.

Think about your senses – what does kindness look like, sound like, feel like etc.

Use your mindmap to create a kindness poem. Here is an idea to get you started, you can use this one or create a different one of your own.

Kindness is the colour of…
It smells like…
It sounds like…
It feels like…
It looks like…
It tastes like….
When I am kind I feel…

  1. Small Acts of Kindness
  • Cut a piece of paper up into smaller pieces or use some post-it notes.
  • Write down a small act of kindness that can be done at home on each piece of paper (there are examples below).
  • Think about how these acts might help somebody. This isn’t about spending money on doing something to help somebody but it is about the act itself. A small act can have a huge impact. For example, smiling at somebody who is unhappy will help them feel that someone has noticed and cares.
  • Once you have written your acts of kindness fold them up and put them into a suitable kindness box. Every morning take one out and perform that act of kindness at some point that day.
  • You could keep a kindness diary to keep track of all of the nice things you have done.

Ideas for small acts of kindness:

  • Smile at everyone in your house today
  • Ask someone to join in a game
  • Help to organise or tidy your bedroom
  • Write a letter or card to a friend
  • Give someone a compliment
  • Make a special effort to say thank you
  • Draw a picture for someone
  • Do a task without having to be asked
  1. Rainbows of Hope

If you haven’t created a rainbow to spread hope during this time of need, now is your chance. Using whichever materials you like you should draw, colour or paint a rainbow to display in your window. If you have any glitter left over from this morning’s activity you could use that too.

  1. Cosmic Kids Yoga

This resource is great. It is free on you tube and there are lots of videos of different lengths to allow you to practice your yoga skills. Just type cosmic kids into you tube and choose a video of your choice to keep you feeling relaxed!

  1. Mental Maths

There is a new set of questions in today’s folder, you have three word problems today to get you all thinking!

  1. ICT

Mrs McLean has created a school competition on Sumdog where you can win house points. My money challenge is still open too so if you haven’t tried it go on and have a go. Once you have done that:

  • You could create a powerpoint about your week so far and think about all of the things you have done and how you have felt about being inside. Has it been fun or have you found it difficult?
  • You could also redraft one of your pieces of work from this week in a word document.

Have a great day everyone!
