Primary 1/2 at the end of term 1.

What a fantastic end to term 1! Here we are ready for the dress rehearsal for our 1960’s show. We had a BLAST and hope you did too!

Here is a super star Primary 1 who has brought in her running medal to show us! WELL DONE!

SNV37990We ended our 1960’s topic today with a creative art activity. This week we have been researching the space race in the 60’s. Our discoveries included lots of facts about Neil Armstrong. Everyone was so impressed with his achievements that we were inspired to write about him. Then today we made some BLAST OFF pictures using mixed media and added them to our wall display.

Now we are looking forward to the October holidays – look out for more interesting learning in Primary 1/2 next term.

Pr 7 Talk about 60s bands.

As part of our topic research, the primary 7 pupils were asked to choose a 60s band, to find out all about them, listen to their songs and make a poster including all the information.

Pupils were then asked to present information to the rest of the class. The focus was eye contact, a clear voice and an interesting presentation style.  The pupils who spoke today had all these qualities and they WOWed the rest of the class with their information.

Here are our pupils who spoke today… Keep posted for more from our blog soon.

Health and Wellbeing Homework in Pr 7

This term we have been looking at being healthy and part of that involved a closer look at food and hygiene.  Earlier on in the term we visited Frankie and Bennies where we were shown how to make delicious pizzas.  We then were given recipe cards from Mrs MacFarlane to cook at home with our parents.  This has been a brilliant exprience.  Some children have came back saying they want to cook  more at home and some parents have loved the experience of having that extra pair of hands in the kitchen!  There was a real variety of meals and dishes cooked at home this term including risotto, pasta, cakes, cookies, BLT sandwiches even fancy filo pastry.  This has given the children a real expeience in thinking about the preparation of food and our next steps would be looking at healthy choices and a balanced daily menu.

Here are just some of the wonderful dishes created.

Also here is a little reminder of that great day at Frankie and Bennies!

Almost show time!

All of last week our lovely pr7 pupils, after returning from a brilliant week at kilbowie, were straight back into the sixties and getting ready for our show.  We were making surfboards, singing, dancing and practicing speeches!

We cannot wait for the show to come!

We also really enjoyed our visit from Theo Spalding, a Judo champion who guided us through our sponsored circuits on Friday.  We all took part, even Mrs MacFarlane!  It was great fun!

Primary 1/2 have a packed week.

This week has been extremely busy! Besides all of our very, very hard work in class, we have been on an outing, visited the book fair and had a sponsored fitness day!

We all love books – here we are having a browse through the books at the book fair.

Then on Thursday we had our topic visit to the Riverside Museum where we wanted to find some 1960’s artifacts. We started off with  visit to the tall ship – the Glen Lee. It was amazing and there was lots to see and do. Then inside the museum we looked for a camper van as we wanted to design our own 1960’s camper vans and were looking for inspiration.

After that, we went on a beetle hunt! Not only did we find one, we found lots of old cars and took some time to draw some of them.

A beetle!!!

Then we went and had our lunch outside because the sun was shinning.

Once back inside the museum, Mrs Carlin had a very exciting treasure hunt for us to do. Here are some of the things we had to find….

While we were in the museum we had lots of compliments from other visitors and they were very impressed with our behaviour and manners.

Finally … on Friday we had a visit from Theo Spalding who is a judo expert and he has several medals to prove how good he is! He helped us complete a fitness course….here are some photos…Mrs Carlin joined in too and we were all very tired afterwards.

What another fun week at school. Now we are all looking forward to singing our hearts out for you at our 1960’s show on Thursday! We can’t wait…..

A day out with primary 1!

This week we visited the Riverside Museum and got a chance to explore the tall ship! We got to see the tiny rooms the sailors lived in and some of us even had a lie down on a sailors bed – we much prefer our own though! In the museum we went on a hunt in search of loads of forms of transport from the past, when we found them we ticked them off on our sheet. We also designed our own campervans taking ideas from the bright and colourful campervan in the museum. Have a look at our pictures!

A judo athlete called Theo also came to visit our school this week. We worked hard doing different exercises with Theo and got to ask him some questions about his sporting life during assembly. There was a great feel in the hall cheering each other on – well done primary 1!

Check the concentration! Well done boys.

P2 love Pinocchio!

Miss Connor read us the story of Pinocchio yesterday and we all loved it. We had to draw and write about our favourite part of the story, most of us picked the part when Pinocchio told lies and his nose grew. We though that was really funny!
