Pr7 had lots of fun in the ICT room making their own Picasso faces. The idea was to make the faces wild and creative! Good job pr7!

In literacy this week we have spent some time working on daily punctuation activities. We are hoping that this helps us to remember to put in capital letters and full stops in all our writing tasks. This has involved partner work, individual work, computer activities and of course writing activities.
Also so this week, in ICT, we have been learning about journeys. Last week we learned that lots of our fruit makes a long journey to get here and we wondered if we could explore our own journeys. After exploring this in ICT, we were able to sequence our own journey to school and write about it.
In in our reading, we are learning lots of new skills too. Our texts in primary 2 are becoming more interesting so we are using all of our reading strategies to read the trickier words. We are also reading with great expression!
We we are so proud of our achievements that we have invited Mr Young to our class next week to see what we are doing….we can’t wait. Look on our blog next week to see how it went.

This week has been an extremely active week in maths learning about time. We had great fun estimating and timing how long it took us to carry out different activities. These activities included doing star jumps, writing our names 10 times and drawing a picture of ourselves.
We also worked as a group to decide whether certain activities would take seconds, minutes or hours to complete.
As part of our Electricity topic, we carried out a science investigation earlier today. We used a battery, a lightbulb and two crocodile wires to make an electric circuit. We had to work as a team to assemble the circuit and every group successfully lit up their light bulb.
Finally we would like to share some photos from our Zoo Lab visit last week, where we learned about how some different animals survive during winter.

Primary 5 have been really busy this week. We have been learning all about equivalent fractions and we made a fraction wall to help us with our learning
We were also learning all about our Celtic Heritage during R.E. We designed our own family crests for our wall display.

We have moved on from our learning about the Moon this week and our ‘Puffy Moons’ display is now complete!
This week in P4, there has been a big focus on working co-operatively in small groups. We have been learning about the planets of the Solar System, working together to deepen our knowledge. First, we took notes as we watched and listened to some videos about the the planets…
Then, we worked in small groups to add our notes to a group visualiser…
We then had ten minutes to prepare a short group presentation about the Solar System. We had to think about eye contact, projecting our voices and making our presentation interesting. Some of us included short dramas in our presentation and Mrs McLean was really impressed…
The next day, we had to apply what we had learned about the Solar System to create a group model showing the order of the planets from the Sun. We were give a set amount of materials and we had to problem solve in order to create our models…
We now have to observe what the planets look like from space in order to add detail to our models. We started adding detail to our mini-Earths using shaving foam (it has many uses!) and paint…
We have been working co-operatively in Maths too. We are learning about Data Handling and how to interpret and create Pictograms with keys. We decided to create a class pictogram…
We also carried out a class survey called ‘Which Planet would you most like to visit?’ and will be creating our own Pictograms to display our results. We have been trying hard to talk about our Maths learning too this week. Here are two brave children who took the ‘1 minute plenary challenge’…
Another hard working week in P4. Well done boys and girls!

With our fast approaching Confirmation we have been really enjoying looking at the lives of some saints. With the the feast of St Andrew around the corner we had a good look at his story today. After some discussion, we went into groups and planned, rehearsed and presented our own little dramas to show the story behind our patron saint.

This week primary 7 were asked to research the products of Spain. They put their information into posters and presented them to the class. Despite the wind and the rain, the children were able to bring these posters into school and wowed the rest of the class!
Punctuation focus
This week we began a new activity in literacy. We are taking a short time each day to practice our punctuation skills. We hope this will help us write with more accuracy in our writing. Our daily activities have been a lot of fun!
Jewellery making club
This was week one of our after school jewellery making club. The children from pr6 and 7 made beautiful St Andrew’s day bracelets.
The highlight of our week was the visit from ZooLab. We learned all about being Eco friendly in order to save animal and insect species. We got to meet two friendly cockroaches, a tree frog called Francis, a tarantula called Beyoncé, a corn snake and a rat! It was completely brilliant! Thank you Mr Young for organising it!
Last but not least, we have been working with scale and today we enjoyed the challenge of being an architect for the day. We designed our own buildings using a realistic scale for our “blue prints” !

What a nice surprise on Monday morning….another primary 2 winner! Well done Star girl!
In our topic work we have been exploring where our food comes from. We found out that lots of our fruit comes from countries very far away. We wanted to taste some of it, so we made our own fruit salad.
In maths this week primary 2 were working on subtraction skills. This involved games, partner activities, individual challenges and team activities.
We always know our targets for the week, they are displayed on our smart board. Each day some of us make it onto the target! Look who has achieved this week….
Many thanks to all of the people who donated cakes and biscuits for our cake sale! It was a huge success. So far we have raised £122 for Mary’s Meals. It costs £12.20 to feed one child for a year, so we have raised enough money to feed 10 children for a year and the government will double it, so that makes 20. Thank you for you support.

This week we have been learning more fascinating facts about the Moon during our study of different non-fiction texts. We have been learning how to take clear, concise notes as we watch and listen…
We have also been learning about the features of non-fiction texts in our co-operative learning groups to help us write our own wonderful non-chronological reports…
We watched a video and did some reading about the Moon Landings. We found out that if you drop a feather and hammer on the Moon at the same time, they both hit the ground at the same time! This is because of a force called gravity. We decided to test the gravity on Planet Earth…
We talked about the things that we had to keep the same in order to make sure that our experiments were fair. These were the height (that the balls were dropped from) and the timing (of the balls being dropped). After that we wrote down our hypotheses and finally conducted our fair tests, recording our results on a table as we went. We found that, if the test was fair, the size and weight of the ball made no difference! All of the balls hit the ground at the same time. That’s gravity for you!
In maths we have been learning about a new fraction called hundredths. Here we are playing a class game…
And these super boys have been learning how to order numbers on a number line…
Finally, today we were learning some Scottish songs in music. We decided that we needed to add more ‘Scottishness’ to the classroom. This pair were more than happy to help out…
Pretty!
