Well what an amazing start we have had to our year in Primary 6! Here are just some of the things that have been keeping us busy since the beginning of our new, exciting term…
Our new topic is…Spain! We have been learning about Spain’s place in Europe and where it is in relation to the UK. We have been looking at maps of Spain and we can now locate it in Europe, using an Atlas. We now know which countries border Spain and we know that it is divided into parts or regions. We have started to make our own maps of Spain showing these different regions…
In keeping with our Spain topic, we made a Spanish dish today called Pan con Tomate. It simply means ‘bread with tomato’ and it’s usually served in Spain as part of a selection of Spanish tapas…
We tried our tapas and most of us really enjoyed them. Some of us even cleared our plates, although we did stink of garlic for the rest of the day!
We then worked very hard and wrote a recipe for our Pan con Tomate. Stay posted for details of our Star Writers!
As well as all of that, we started off the term by studying a new artist called Modigliani. He was an Italian artist who painted portraits with a very unique style. We used oil and chalk pastels to create self-portraits in the style of Modigliani. Can you tell what one of his trademark features was…?
In case you haven’t spotted it yet, here are our self-portraits on display…
We hope you can see from our work that Modigliani’s style was to paint his subjects with elongated necks! We think we captured his style very well indeed!
What a great start to the term! The boys and girls have been busting with enthusiasm and working very hard indeed. Well done P6!
