Our First Holy Communion day takes place in just over 3 weeks and we’re working very hard on our preparations in class. We were delighted to be able to share our learning with a very special, surprise visitor on Wednesday…
Father Doherty popped in to see us and very patiently answered our questions. He reminded us that we should, above all other things, be preparing our hearts to receive First Holy Communion. We can do this by praying, reflecting and showing love and kindness to others.
After Father Doherty left, we continued with out First Communion preparations. This week, we have been reflecting on Jesus’s actions and words at The Last Supper. We know that we remember these every Sunday at Mass. We decided to make unleavened bread so that we could have our own class Last Supper…
Before having our class Last Supper, we learned about the meaning of true sacrifice. Jesus made the greatest sacrifice for us when he died on the cross and we came to realise that sacrifice is not just giving something up – it is giving something up for the sake of someone else. We talked about sacrifices we have made and then made preparations for our class Last Supper…
We know that Jesus died for us to take away our sins. Wiktor explained it very simply and beautifully. He said “Jesus died for us because he loves us.” We will be reminded of this when we receive our First Holy Communion, and every time that we receive Communion thereafter.
