The clock is ticking in primary 5/6

For the last few weeks in primary 5/6, we have been looking at different aspects of time.

First we worked on our estimating skills trying to estimate how long activities would take and how many times we could complete these activities in a set amount of time.

We looked at how many times we could sneeze in  30 seconds.

Then we seen how long it would take to blink 50 times.

We investigated how many times we could touch our toes in one minute… It was exhausting!

We also used our estimating skills for some team building activities in P.E.

We got really good at estimating, so we looked at some different time-related language then practised our time-telling skills with 12 hour analogue and digital clocks.

Telling the time can be tricky business, but we worked really hard and soon we were able to move on to converting between 12 and 24 hour clocks. We played lots of different games to develop our understanding and get lots of practise!

As well as learning all about time, we’ve also been revisiting our learning from throughout the year with some maths stations and games. We’ve worked on multiplication, division, addition and subtraction in addition to place value, shape, patterns and lots of other concepts!

Lastly, we’ve been working very hard on our preparation for Confirmation. Here are a few photos of our work on the gifts and the fruits of the Holy Spirit and how we can use them throughout this Jubilee Year of Mercy.
