Skittles Sharks and Chocolate Nests!

It’s been a jam-packed week in P4 and boy, have we worked hard. In literacy, our novel studies are continuing and we’ve been working on metalinguistics, HOT skills, main idea, inference and summary!

In maths, we’re learning about division and we’re polishing up on our mental skills. We know that you can use your tables facts to help with division calculations and that you can split bigger numbers into tens and units to quickly work out division facts. We used our skills this week to solve a very serious problem indeed! It involved a rare breed of shark called the South African Skittle Shark. Have a look at our photos to find out more…

We managed to solve the problem and work out how many times the sharks could be fed. And we may have eaten some of the skittles too! Oops!

We’ve not just been learning about Skittle Sharks this week, we’ve also been learning about the events that took place during Holy Week. We decided to explore the main events through drama…

We prayed the Stations of the Cross in class and held symbols to represent each station. We know that we can link each of the events to our daily lives. For example, since Simon of Cyrene helped Jesus to carry his cross, we too should look for ways to show kindness and caring towards others.

Finally, today, we made our own Easter cakes and treats in the get-together room. We had lots of fun and the photos speak for themselves we think…!

And really finally…here is a class superstar who has just been awarded his red tags in Tae Kwon Do. A truly fantastic achievement! Well done!

Happy Easter everyone!
