Hard work in primary 5/6

Primary 5/6 have been busy as always this week. The learning we’d like to share with you is from our P.E. and R.E lessons.

We have been learning new hockey skills in P.E. with the sports leaders from St. Ambrose.
After we had warmed up playing some different games, we got straight down to work on developing our passing skills. Although at first some of us found it a bit tricky, we worked hard and showed fantastic control.

After that we started working on dribbling and shooting. We did this in pairs and had the chance to dribble up to our partners and shoot into the goals which our partners were guarding. This was loads of fun and we scored lots and lots.

When we had practised our basic skills, we had a go at passing in teams one against the other. This was challenging because we were all so eager to have control of the ball. However, with great advice from the sports leaders we managed to work together in our teams and win some points!

Then we really got down to business and in teams of 5 or 6, we took each other on for a real game. We really enjoyed ourselves and every team managed to score. Miss Brennan was super pleased.

In R.E we have been learning about Lent and about Jesus’ last words. We began by finding some scripture about the crucifixion, we read through this and made notes about his last words according to different passages. We shared these with the rest of the class then looked at different ways that we could tell these stories to others using dramatisation. We divided into groups so that we could all portray a different passage. We were very successful in sharing these and their importance, particularly during lent.
