A catch up from P5/6

Over the last couple of week primary 5/6 have been very busy. Here’s a little sample of all the things we’ve been up to.

In maths we’ve been looking at measure. Here’s a little selection of photos that show what we’ve covered so far.

We developed our skills of drawing and measuring lines to make a shape picture and challenged our partners to measure accurately.

We had to read scale to weigh different objects. We found reading the scale difficult so we used the interactive games on the smart board to help us. We also tried out hand at measuring the capacity of different shapes and sizes of containers.

Shape Problem Solving

We have been working with 3D and 2D shapes this week.

We were set a challenge of making a box for our square based pyramid. We worked in groups to figure out how to solve the problem and make the box. Then we had to present it to the class sharing the things we found easy and difficult. We identified how to improve our designs

Writing Music

We have been working as composers in music. We have worked together to write a short tune and then we were given the chance to practice it to hear what it sounded like.  We then had to perform it for the class. We found it difficult to play together so we had to practice a lot before the performance.

We are also working hard on learning our Scottish Song for our St Andrew’s Day assembly. Then its Christmas and our Christmas songs are really great.
