We have moved on from our learning about the Moon this week and our ‘Puffy Moons’ display is now complete!

This week in P4, there has been a big focus on working co-operatively in small groups. We have been learning about the planets of the Solar System, working together to deepen our knowledge. First, we took notes as we watched and listened to some videos about the the planets…

Then, we worked in small groups to add our notes to a group visualiser…

We then had ten minutes to prepare a short group presentation about the Solar System. We had to think about eye contact, projecting our voices and making our presentation interesting. Some of us included short dramas in our presentation and Mrs McLean was really impressed…

The next day, we had to apply what we had learned about the Solar System to create a group model showing the order of the planets from the Sun. We were give a set amount of materials and we had to problem solve in order to create our models…

We now have to observe what the planets look like from space in order to add detail to our models. We started adding detail to our mini-Earths using shaving foam (it has many uses!) and paint…

We have been working co-operatively in Maths too. We are learning about Data Handling and how to interpret and create Pictograms with keys. We decided to create a class pictogram…

We also carried out a class survey called ‘Which Planet would you most like to visit?’ and will be creating our own Pictograms to display our results. We have been trying hard to talk about our Maths learning too this week. Here are two brave children who took the ‘1 minute plenary challenge’…

Another hard working week in P4. Well done boys and girls!
