On Wednesday 4th October, some of our S5 boys visited the Scottish Lime Centre Trust to take part in a Traditional Building Skills taster day, as part of the Coatbridge CARS project. Pupils took part in a range of activities throughout the day, including: history of Coatbridge buildings, sorting modern and traditional building materials to natural or man-made, preparing and applying traditional ‘hair’ lime plaster onto wooden laths, basic geology of building materials and designing and carving Masons’ marks on to limestone.  Pupils were also given the opportunity to visit historic limekilns and a disused quarry.
