The Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) award is an Internationally recognised Youth Achievement Award that is offered in St Andrews High School.
The award is offered to anyone between the ages of 14-18 years old in St Andrew’s High School (S3-S6). Once an individual has completed the various requirements of this award it will lead to a Bronze, Silver, or Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
There are four sections to complete at Bronze and Silver Level, and an additional fifth section to complete at Gold Level. The Sections are:
- Physical (improving your life through physical activity)
- Skills (learning something new)
- Volunteering (helping others)
- Expedition (hillwalking and camping)
Any young person can do their DofE – regardless of ability, gender, or background. Achieving an Award isn’t a competition or about being first. It’s all about setting personal challenges and pushing personal boundaries in each of the four different sections.
Participants of the award gain essential skills and attributes for work and life such as resilience, problem-solving, team-working, communication and drive, which will ultimately enhance CVs and university and job applications
