At Shawhead Primary School, the literacy curriculum is based on the principles of North Lanarkshire Council’s Active Literacy Programme.
This comprehensive approach, built upon a foundation of research and assessment evidence, focuses on the core skills of reading, writing and spelling (and phonics) through Active Learning in a progressive, strategy based, curriculum.
