Parent & Child Progress Discussions: Week Beginning 29th March 2021

Parent & Child Progress Discussions:
Week Beginning 29th March 2021

Parent and child progress discussions will take place during the week beginning Monday 29th March 2021. Due to current and ongoing Covid-19 restrictions and guidelines we are unable to have in school, face to face appointments with parents and pupils. However, we are very keen to speak with our parents and carer to discuss progress to date and plans for the final term. As a result, our Parent’s Evening will take place via a timed phone call.

You will be given a set time to receive a phone call to discuss your child/ren’s progress and the class teacher will phone you at this time. It is important that you are available at this time to speak with your child’s class teacher on the phone.

To select a time slot we ask that you click the link for your child’s class base and select which time slot is most appropriate to you. The link will remain live until Friday 12th March. If you do not select a time slot before this time you will be given a time. You will then be contacted via email with a specific day and time to be contacted by your child’s class teacher.

Due to class teacher’s having different days and time for non class contact time, each class base will have a variety of times. If you have more than one child at the school please complete a return for each child separately.

Full Return to School Information

Information about the full return to schools Monday 15th March 2021

Scottish Government have confirmed the full re-opening of primary schools from Monday 15th March 2021. Pupils in Primary 4-7 will return to school on a full-time basis from Monday 15th March 2021. This document outlines information specific to Shawhead Primary School and Shawhead Primary Nursery Class.  We are delighted that we will have all of our children back in school on a full time basis.  We know that it has been a difficult time for everyone and we are hoping that some normality, routine and structure will help feel like things are getting back to normal.

ALL CHILDREN ATTENDING SCHOOL FROM MONDAY 15TH MARCH 2021 MUST BE IN FULL SCHOOL UNIFORM.  ARRANGEMENTS FOR VULNERABLE CHILDREN AND THE CHILDREN OF KEYWORKERS WILL END, AND THESE CHILDREN WILL RE-JOIN THEIR NORMAL CLASSES. BREAKFAST CLUBS WILL ALSO RESTART ON MONDAY 15TH MARCH FOR ALL PUPILS.

COVID SECURE ARRANGEMENTS

All of the COVID-secure arrangements in place prior to Christmas will remain in place for children attending school.   We have a number of rigorous Risk Assessments, procedures and enhanced cleaning in place, as before, to mitigate the risks of Covid-19.  Staff will keep 2m apart from each other and the children and where this is not possible face coverings are worn by staff, which are also worn in communal areas.  Staff are now supplied with twice-weekly home Covid-19 Testing kits, again to reduce risks and transmission.

Do not come to the school or nursery if you have any symptoms of COVID-19, including entering the playground.

To ensure this runs as smoothly as possible, please remember:

  • Please do not arrive before 8.50am, as the playground is not staffed until this time.
  • Children must play in their designated areas within the playground to remain in their class bubbles.
  • Parents/Carers must adhere to safe social distancing whilst waiting at the school gates.
  • No adults in the playground and school building without prior consent.
  • Children will remain in their class bubbles throughout the day, during playtime and lunchtime.
  • Anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 must not come to the school.
  • Parents/carers are not allowed to visit the school or nursery without an appointment.
  • Nursery parents/carers must keep to their allocated drop-off/pick-up times- these are the same as they were before Christmas.
  • Nursery parents must queue 2m apart whilst waiting for entry and when collecting children at the end of the day.

We appreciate your understanding in keeping the school as safe as possible.

As the First Minister has stressed the importance of limiting contact between adults, please ensure you adhere to 2m distancing at all times when dropping off/collecting children and wear a facemask.

February Break and In-Service Day

I can’t believe how quickly the term is going even though school and nursery are far from normal. We are hoping, based on the First Ministers announcement on Tuesday 2/2/21, that we will be seeing some of our children back in school very soon. We just have to hope that the number of cases keep falling. We cannot thank you, our fabulous parents and carers, enough for all your hard work and support at home. We know how incredibly difficult the past few weeks have been for you at home and for us in school.

We can’t wait to have everyone back together in the school and nursery.

Just a reminder that school and nursery will be closed on Monday 8th February until Thursday 11th February due to the February break and in-service day for staff. On these days children will not attend school and no work will be set on Teams. It is very important that the children, our families and staff have a break from online learning- turn off the screens and enjoy some family time outdoors! Everyone has worked so hard and I could not be prouder of our Shawhead Team.

We will see you back online on Thursday 11th February for our 9.30am live meeting or for those children attending school, we will see them back in school from 8.30am for breakfast club.
I will update you as soon as further details are available regarding the reopening of the school for our nursery children and P1-3 children.

Please remember we are at the end of the phone or an email if you need help with anything at all- please contact us if you need help or just want a chat! Enjoy a break over the February long weekend.

Thanks again
Mrs Paterson
