The children have enthusiastically participated in a week full of literacy rich, exciting and fun experiences in celebrating Book Week with a focus on ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’, ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’, ‘Supertato: Evil Pea Rules’, ‘Pete’s a Pizza’ and ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea.’ Stories were truly brought to life both indoors and outdoors as the children explored the characters and events taking place in them. Cooking took place on a daily basis with the children making and tasting the three bears porridge, Pete’s pizza and turning Supertato into chips! The week ended with a tea party to which of course the tiger was invited.
Stories were told throughout the week in a variety of ways where the children could be active and become part of the stories during story yoga, story massage and with an exciting hunt for the very hungry caterpillar and his food in the nature park. As well as this, the children had the opportunity to cosy up and listen to a story being told by some of the pupils from Calderhead High School.
The Book Swap took place each day and was a huge success with the children arriving at nursery excited and eager to donate their old books and choose a new one to take home.
With the theme of Book Week being ‘nourish’ donations were gratefully accepted for the Food Bank with parents and children being very generous, therefore a huge thank you is extended to all who were able to donate.
