CHristmas Fayre

This week we have enjoyed being little elves doing lots of work for the Christmas Fayre.  We made chocolate marshmallow reindeers, chocolate star lollies, marshmallow candy canes and posters to advertise the Fayre.

Come check out all of our hard work and support the Christmas Fayre tomorrow at 10 o’clock.

Homework 22.11- 27.11

Money Homework

This week is Enterprise week in school so we are learning all about money.  All of the homework activities will focus on money this week.  Choose 2 or 3 activities from the list below;

 

  • Money Talk – Talk about money with your child. Create a poster showing all they know about money.
  • Shopping Lists – Create your own shopping lists with items and prices.
  • Shop Visit – Go on a visit to the shops, talk about the cost of items. What coins/notes could you use to pay for the items?
  • Coin Sort – Give your child a handful of coins and get them to sort them and add up the total.
  • Amounts – Give your child 3 different amounts and a variety of coins. Can they make the amounts with the coins given?  Draw the coins you used.
  • Menu – Give your child a takeaway menu or a catalogue page. Specify a total amount they can spend.  Together work out what you would buy and how much it would cost.
  • Topmarks – Have a go at some of these money games

Explore this website.  Read the stories and play some of the games.

Writing

During our story writing we have been focusing on punctuation.  Create a poster telling the class all about the different types of punctuation you know about.   What does it look like?  When would you use it ?

Spelling

Choose 5 words from your word wall to practice.

Maths – addition

 Totals – Provide children with a suitable total, appropriate to their confidence within 50  –  16, 39, 47 or 35, etc. Ask them to record all the different addition calculations involving two numbers, with that total. Encourage them to work systematically.

 Doubles – Explore adding doubles to 50.  Write down 5 doubles sums in your jotter.

IDL

Design a new bandana for Pudsey Bear  (handout will be given on the 15.11) .  To be completed for 17.11.17.

  • Explore these on-line stories. 
  • Choose one of the stories and make up 3 of your own questions about the book.

A busy day

We went on a punctuation hunt. We found lots of different types of punctuation in our library books.

 

We worked on our research skills and found out lots about our chosen weather topic.

 

We took part in a variety of maths stations. We were working on our adding skills, counting in 2’s and 5’s and partitioning numbers in to HTU.
