Online resources for division, multiplication and addition.

Circles and Squares Group:

Lets revise multiplication and division. Remember counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s helps us remember how to multiply. You can also try counting in 3’s and 4’s.

Counting in 2s looks like this. 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10… You skip over a number and say the next one.

Counting in 10s looks like this. 10, 20, 30, 40, 50…The numbers are all even and end in 0. The number of tens goes up by 1 each time.

Below are links to some of the Numberblocks episodes on BBC iplayer.  Remember times tables (multiplying) makes a bigger number, division makes a smaller number as you share out the objects into equal groups.  Have a go at sharing out objects with people at home.  You could collect different objects and share them out equally.  I have grouped the following links in division and multiplication.

Triangles Group:

Use the following links to practise counting to 20 . When you feel confident with this move onto the other link about addition to 10. You could use objects in your home to practise adding.

I have put together some maths and numeracy activities for you to give a go. Some use cubes but you can use anything you have in the house. All you need is paper, pen or pencil and any loose objects to count.

Circles and Squares:

Use a tablet, ipad, computer or anything that gives you access to the topmarks website.

Triangles:

You can also use any loose objects for the following activities to help with numbers to 20.

Make each number with loose objects. Can you start at 0 and go all the way to 20?

Draw a gingerbread man and write a number between 0 to 20 or get an adult to write the number. Can you put the correct amount of objects into that gingerbread man?

You can also go onto topmarks on a tablet, ipad or computer to access the following game.

Lets get moving

Happy Thursday everyone!

Hope you are all keeping well. I thought it would be good if today we have a lets get moving day. I know it’s hard to stay healthy when we can’t get out and about just now, so I have put together some ideas for fun exercises you can do at home to stay healthy. Remember you can do it with your family aswell.

  • You can use cosmickids yoga on youtube
  • Flip a coin workout instructions are below. All you need is any coin.
  • For this next one you will need a dice. If you don’t have one you can always make one from paper. There are lots of videos on YouTube to show you how to do this.

  • This last one you need to spell your name to see what exercises you have to do. Remember if you want it to be a harder workout, try spell your first and second name.

Spelling activities

I thought it would be a good idea to list all phonemes covered so far for your child. If your child is in the Green, Yellow or Red group for literacy they will have covered the following sounds.

sh,   ch,    th,    ng,     wh,     ph,     ee ,    oo,  ck,     ai,      oy,     oa,     qu,  ay,   ea (leaf)

ow (snow),       ue,    aw,     oi,      au,     ew,  ow (owl),   ou,       igh,   y (fly),

i with magic e (fine),

o with magic e (home)

Here are some activities you could do to practise your spelling-

  • Write out words that have some of the above phonemes in them. Remember to look, cover, write, say and check.
  • Use coloured pencils to rainbow spell, write your words in capital letters or dotted spelling.
  • Write your words in a sentence. Can you add a joining word? Can you add a question mark?

Blue literacy group continue to work on the sounds of the alphabet. Youtube has lots of great songs, just type in alphabet songs.

Other activities you can do are-

  • Play I spy, for example, using a for apple or b for bin.
  • Can you write some sounds on paper and cut them out? Then can you put the sound next to an object in your home that starts with that sound? For example writing d and then cutting it out and putting it at the door.
  • Use playdough, counters or cut up paper to create each sound.

Research Project

Hi guys,

Hope you are all staying safe. I have written below some ideas for you to do some research on our topic of Time Travellers.

We have looked at toys, schools and shops from the past. Can you find out any more information on any of these? Can you write them down or draw a picture and label it to add detail?

If you would like to challenge yourself feel free to find out information about the fashion (clothes) people wore in the 1950’s,1960’s and 1970’s. You can either make a poster, write about the differences or draw a picture showing the different clothes. Remember you can label your drawing to add more detail about the information you have found out.
