Assessment & Reporting

ASSESSMENT

Teachers are continually assessing and consolidating each pupil’s understanding of concepts and use of skills by observation, informal and formal testing and use formative assessment particularly in writing. Good work/effort is rewarded with praise stickers, stamps, badges and notes home. These are highlighted in class and at assemblies.

A programme of more formal assessment has been drawn up with children being assessed at entry, at the beginning of Primary 2 and in the course of Primary 3 and Primary 5 when necessary.

School reports will be sent before both Parents’ Evenings. Parents are requested to comment on these reports in writing – please use this facility of liaising with the school. On Parents’ Evenings your child’s work will be available for you to look at and you will have the opportunity to discuss any point with the class teacher. However, please feel free to visit the school at other times if/when you wish to discuss any aspect of your child’s schooling.

Record cards are kept and contain copies of reports you receive, information sheets that you detail and any health notes etc. you have given for teachers’ information.
