Primary five have been busy learning all about electricity this week. First, they learned how electricity is generated in power stations. They then went on to learn about electrical circuits and the standard symbols which electricians all around the world use to design and create circuits. They particularly enjoyed creating their own circuits using a range of components.  Finally, they learned how batteries work. They worked in groups to create a poster which explains how a battery works and then presented this to the class. All children participated well and spoke with confidence to their peers about their new learning.

Morgan S – In Science I learned that there are three parts to a battery; cathode, anode and the electrolyte.

Zara – I learned what goes on inside a battery and about the different parts of one.

Emma T – I enjoyed making my own circuit.

Kyle St – I learned how a battery works. It was fascinating finding out about the different parts.

A-Jay – I learned how batteries work.

Morgan H – I enjoyed learning about how a battery works. I had no clue about it before today.

Kristian – I enjoyed working in a group to create a poster about how a battery works.

Thomas P – I had fun making circuits.

Reece – I learned all about how a battery works and that it has three sections; the anode, electrolyte and cathode.

Matthew – I learned that there are electrons in batteries.

Elise – I did not know there are three layers in a battery. I enjoyed making a presentation about it.

Heather – I knew very little about electricity before Science Week. Now I know loads about electricity and batteries.

Clare – I learned that electricity is an energy source and realised that I hadn’t really thought about how a battery works or my electronics work.

Aaron – I learned that electricity can be made by burning rubbish or gas. It can also be made using solar panels.

Jamie – In Science I learned about a battery and what goes on inside them. I super enjoyed it and I wish I could do the subject again.

Grace – I really enjoyed learning about electricity and batteries.

Ziad – I really enjoyed Science Week because we were learning about complicated electricity but now it’s easy.
