The Tallship

The P5’s from P6/5 visited The Tallship and Transport Musuem yesterday and had an amazing time.

The pupils began by taking part in a workshop where they had the opportunity to become marine archaelologists. The class split into teams and ‘excavated’ replica Titanic artefacts. They had to remember where the objects were uncovered and the positions had to be logged. I think it is fair to say the children found this really exciting.  They then had to use primary and secondary sources to determine which objects were used by 1st class, 2nd class and crew.

Afterwards, we had the opportunity to have a tour of the Glenlee. The pupils had fun ringing the bell, scrubbing the deck and exploring the Captains cabin.

We were also lucky enough to visit the transport museum where we were able to have a look at lots of model ships, amongst other things. Unfortunately we never found the Titanic!

Here are some of our favourite parts of the day –

Heather –  I really liked the transport museum, especially the model street.

Reece – I liked looking at the different rooms people have to stay in on the ship.

Elise – I liked taking part in some of the jobs aboard the ship like sending rice up to the top deck.

Kristian – I loved excavating the artefacts from the sand. I would love to be an archaeologist when I am older!100_2266 100_2267 100_2268 100_2269 100_2276 100_2277 100_2278 100_2279 100_2280 100_2281 100_2282 100_2283 100_2285 100_2286 100_2287 100_2289 100_2291 100_2294 100_2297 100_2298 100_2302 100_2303 100_2305 100_2308 100_2309 100_2314 100_2315 100_2324 100_2327 100_2328 100_2329
