Overtown Primary School

Art work

As part of our ‘Travel and Transport’ topic we have been learning about different modes of transport. We decided to focus on boats for a piece of art work. Primary 3 are now going to tell you all about how we completed our pictures.

First we looked at different paintings of boats and talked about what we liked in each picture. We had to use some ideas from these paintings to create our own boat journey picture. We used light blue paint to paint half of the piece of paper. To make the clouds we used a sponge dabbed in white paint. Next we painted the bottom of the picture green and had to wait patiently for it to dry! When it was dry we painted dark blue over the top of it. When it was still a little wet we used a fork to make patterns which looked like waves. We thought this was the most fun part! While the paint was drying off, we designed and decorated two sailing boats. Lastly we glued the boats onto the picture. We all really enjoyed this art activity and think the end result looks marvellous!
