Thursday Word of the day
Our word of the day today is discombobulated.
Do you know what it means?
I look forward to hearing from you.
I am in class today but I will get back to you all as soon as I can.

Thursday Literacy
Today I would like to continue with our newspaper reports. Think carefully about the layout and be sure to include all the genre features.
I would like you to write about something which we discussed at our catch up yesterday. It can be an article about one of the great things that happened in 2020 such as the scientists finding new species or the whales returning after 100 years or the elephant population of Kenya doubling. You could choose to write about the passing of Captain Sir Tom Moore or there may be something else that you have been interested in and would like to write about.
You will have to do some research in order to be able to complete this task and be factually accurate.
Below I have included the genre features and an example newspaper report to help you with the layout. Take care with your core targets and reflect on the feedback I gave you last week in order to make progress this week.
As usual there will be ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Star Writers ⭐️⭐️⭐️ tomorrow. Good luck!

OLHS update
I spoke with Mrs. Cowie yesterday and she was saying how much she is looking forward to being able to catch up with us all again. She was explaining to me all the plans that will be put in place to enable you to have a smooth transition from primary to secondary. It may seem like a long way away but it will fly in and that’s why we start working on your transition now.
Watch this space for more information in the next few weeks.

Thursday Health and Well-being Afternoon
This week is mental health awareness week so we are going to think about expressing ourselves this afternoon. Below are 3 different activities for you to try. Try them all or just pick 1 or 2 it’s up to you. I hope you enjoy them.
These activities have come from the virtual classroom. In order to be able to see the videos which make the tasks more interactive please click on the links on the Health and Wellbeing page in the virtual classroom. You don’t need to do this however as most of the activities below can be completed without any further resources.

Answers for Wednesday
When you go to review your comprehension answers, can you check spelling & punctuation? Ask yourself if you have made your answers as detailed as they could be? If I haven’t already reviewed and given your work feedback then once you self assess, let me know how you got on. Mrs Gribben
After the long weekend and the week I am back posting work for you I plan for you to engage with Studyladder. Don’t worry if you can’t remember your log-in details as I’ll email you all individually with this information.
Enjoy the long weekend when it comes, you’ve worked hard and deserve a bit of down time. Have fun and look after yourself, Mrs Gribben x
