Our First Week of Term 4

On Monday we began our new Literacy topic – non-fiction.  We investigated a variety of non-fiction texts to discover the different features such as contents page, index, glossaries etc.  Check out our photos below.

On Thursday a famous cyclist, Mark Beaumont came to Ladywell to talk to us about his adventures.  He told us about his participation in Pearl Izumi.  Two lucky people from our class were chosen to be the Primary 7a representatives for the opening of Pearl Izumi.  They came along to school with their bikes and helmets and took part in a photo shoot.

Mark Beaumont told us that he travelled on 141 planes to get to all of the Commonwealth countries and interviewed them about the Commonwealth games.  He was really excited to hear everyone around the world talking about Glasgow, the place where he started his career.

He also told us about his trip around the world which had many up sides and down sides.  We were really impressed by this.

On Friday we had the PTA Spring Coffee Morning.  Some of the P7s got to help with serving tea, coffee and cakes to our community.  We had the chance to buy some cakes, they were delicious!  During the morning, the choir performed a range of songs to entertain our guests.  They were super as always, music to our ears!

One of the children in our class brought in some artefacts from the first and second world war.  We found this so interesting and feel privileged to have been given the chance to look at a photograph of the Fife 7th battalion homefront, a map, a journal and two certificates from King George V.  This was a great way to round off our World War 2 topic.  We can’t wait to begin learning about Space and have so many questions!

This week we have been chatting about getting ready for High School and are looking forward to all of the hard work and preparation coming up before our visits.April 16 105 April 16 106 April 16 107 April 16 108 April 16 109 April 16 110 April 16 111 April 16 112
